HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, due to current financial restrictions, I am not planning on traveling anytime in the foreseeable future. However, I remember fondly being taken in by random strangers when out on the road; being provided food and hospitality, etc, etc, and I wish to return the favor to anyone needing a place to crash on their journey.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well I used to play in a hardcore/punk/ska band called Public Access, and in our 7 years of operation, we undertook a few DIY tours across the eastern portion of the country [USA]. Most of the time we didn't have enough money to even consider the cheapest of motels, nor did we know anyone in most of the locations we were playing. Subsequently, we relied very heavily on the kindness of strangers, usually making some awkward statement during a performance about how 5 tired and road-ravaged punk rockers needed a place to rest their smelly asses for the evening. Surprisingly, it worked more often than not; I think we only ended up having to [attempt to] sleep in the van [in the middle of summer in the dirty south] two or three times. So sleeping on random strangers' floors and couches is nothing new to me, just figured I might try to pay it forward to anyone else in a similar situation.
