About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Currently there are 4 1/2 species (2 cats and 2 1/2 people) living here. One is absolutely normal and the others, well, are not as normal. It's your job to find out who is the normal one. It would be nice if you could tell us who it is.

THE SPECIES

Lucy, cat, female, born September 2004
Henry, cat, male, born May 2004
Charlotte, human, female, born January 15, 1991
Julian, human, male, born October 12, 1989 (just moved out but sometimes stays at home)
Ralf, human, male, born June 10, 1965

Our last name is actually Liebe (German for 'love'), really, not kidding.

We all share a certain passion for travelling (well, except for Henry and Lucy maybe...) and have been to lots of countries on four continents.

Since we had lots of people staying at out house, even for longer times, we are well trained in having guests.

We live pretty close to Cologne and there is a train station 5-10 minutes away from our place (Julian keeps the record at approx. 2 minutes, Charlotte usually takes her time). In addition, Bonn, Dusseldorf and Aachen (Aken, Aix-la-Chapelle) aren't that far away either.

Ralf works at home, which means that the living space is just above a printing office. (We always wonder how cats, who do not live in a printing office, spend their time.)

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans. - John Lennon

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We haven't really had any experience with this site, yet, but we would love to. However, we had some experience on other trips where we crashed in the backyard (in a tent, of course) or things like that.

Interests

Movies...we like to go to movies or watch them at home, hence tons of DVDs...
Books (comes with the job, I guess)
Travelling (different cultures, different customs...)
Cooking
History (Ralf knows E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G about the Cologne cathedral)

Music, Movies, and Books

It's save to say that we all are quite unique and prefer different things. However, there are some things we all like:
Movies by Stanley Kubrik, Tim Burton, Monthy Pythons, Quentin Tarantino, Clint Eastwood, Guy Ritchie and Fatih Akin. But we have no problem with Hollywood Blockbusters or British black-humor comedies (cats prefer 'Mousehunt' [but they would win]).
Music by Xavier Rudd, Johnny Cash, Kate Bush, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, Gerd Koester. Generally speaking, Julian tends more to hip hop and techno, while Charlotte has a faible for rock/pop/classic and Ralf fondly believes that music history ended in the 1980's.
The only books liked by all of us are books by Walter Moers and Eion Colfer (Artemis Fowl), since Ralf read them to Charlotte and Julian when they were younger. Oh, and Lucky Luke is better than Asterix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Family Achievements: Swimming in the Pacific Ocean...the one in Canada that is,
Scuba diving in the Red Sea, walking the West-Highland-Way (Scotland) at age 10 and 11 (well, for Charlotte and Julian), ...

Ralf finished a Marathon, walked the Southern-Upland-Way, ... and survived english coffee

Julian travelled 3 months in Canada and the US, had to eat tons of "Fleischwurst" in Hungary, ...

Charlotte lived in Canada for two years to finish school, survived everything her brother did and she wanted to do...usually with bruises and visits to the doctor...

Teach, Learn, Share

Ralf can teach E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G about printing and printing history.
Charlotte may be able to give you free tickets to the Chocolate Museum of Cologne as long as one is friendly and smart.
Julian can help with your tax return.
