About Me

I am currently working at the integration office in Gent, which brings me in contact with people from all over the world. It triggers my interest in learning about other cultures/languages. I am actually educated as an Archaeologist, but decided a social job was more my thing. After my studies I spent some months in Spain at a project for sustainability and visited Portugal. In my spare time I take upholstry classes and started to play the accordion a couple of years ago. I adore being outside in nature, whether it is for a walk or to work on a veggie patch... I also love baking/cooking and I am a vegetarian.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling while sleeping in local peoples houses, going to places the commercial tracks would never reveal to you is amazing. Meeting nice people is also a given, which is amazing. On the other hand it is, lets face it, an opportunity to be able to see the world if you are not a rich person.

Interests

Upholstry, sewing and playing the accordion is what I am trying to learn for the moment. I am also very keen on learning more about sustainable and ecological living.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like classical, folk and world music and the occasional hiphop. History movies and sci-fy are to my liking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a community in the middle of the Desert in Spain. Luckily there was a river to cool down in, where you would swim with Turtles in the water and swallows soaring over the water.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that there is something to be learnt from every interaction with every person... So it is hard to pinpoint one thing to share. I could help with Dutch skills, I know a thing or two about history and Europe...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a loving, flexible person :) I tend to enjoy just about everything life throws at me, whether it is a night out, or a night in watching a film, or a night around the kitchen table telling stories and philosophising.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Spain
