Hi, I'm Grace (I go by my middle name)!

I'm 22 years young and freshly graduated from college. I'm from Minnesota, USA and very hungry to see other parts of the world! I have a working-holiday visa in Ireland for 12 months. I've WOOF'ed in a small village in central Ireland, and spent much time in Dublin, where I plan to return to find work at the end of summer. Currently using Workaway to find travel opportunities... I'm in Portugal now and will be in Budapest in June, working in youth hostels.

I have previously traveled to England. I lived on campus at the University of East Anglia in Norwich for about five months. While studying there, I got the opportunity to travel to other parts of Europe like Belfast, London, Paris, Prague, Berlin, and Amsterdam. My travel goals for the next year are to really immerse myself in Irish culture and see as much of the Emerald Isle as I can, and to take a summer trip through Spain, the South of France, and Italy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favorite travel memories have been made off the beaten path - ideally I'd really like to avoid overly tourist-y places and see a city through the eyes of a local. And of course, it always helps to save money! In a few years when I am in a more stable position, I hope to give back to other Couchsurfers who need a spot to stay!

I love to read and write, take pictures, hike and run, and really soak in the local scene wherever I am by taking walking tours and exploring pubs, museums, and whatever else!

I'm a huge sucker for live music. Anywhere and everywhere - it's awesome.

It would take a lifetime to list all of my favorite books! Right now I'm really into David Foster Wallace's stuff, John Irving, Tim O'Brien, and Kurt Vonnegut.

I love to watch movies! Right now I'm trying to see all of the Best Picture nominations for the Oscars.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first thing that comes to mind that is pretty cool is the time in college that I saw President Obama speak, live, when he was campaigning. A friend and I drove an hour to get there, and stood in line/waiting for 6+ hours but it was a very cool experience to be a part of.

Teach, Learn, Share

Oh, boy. I don't know how much I have to teach, but I definitely have a lot to learn! I am willing to share any of my talents if they are of use to you. I read and write well, speak fluent English, can share pointers on photography or exercise science, and can share some of the stories of where I've been. I'd love to hear yours, too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am willing to share anything I can! I can definitely help you work on your English, or with simple things around the house. I can tell you that I'm very self-sufficient and I clean up after myself. I am so grateful to anyone who extends me the opportunity to stay in their home, and I will treat you and your surroundings with the upmost respect.
