About Me

24 years old, born and raised in Wyoming. I've lived here my whole life and I'm always looking to change that. Something I've always dreamed about doing is living up and down the west coast searching for truth, love and life.
The past four years of my life was spent doing utility line clearance tree trimming, and recently I made a job change, but I would love to continue putting my trade as a trimmer to good use.
I love to read and write and would love to go to back to college to finish earning my degree in journalism. I feel like making a progressive move for someone with a heart and mind like mine would be better outside of Wyoming where conservative's and cowboys rein supreme.
I love planet earth, organic foods, pro-cannabis movements, good books, deep movies and anime. I've also experimented with martial arts and cage fighting and look forward to getting back into the cage one day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The concept of a group of travelers and host's helping each other and lending a hand to expanding others horizons makes me smile, and it is a movement that I would be ecstatic to be a part of. When I have my own place I will host as often as I possibly can, but for now I'm seeking the open arms of others who would help like-minded individuals realize their dreams and goals.

Interests

Literature and philosophy books litter my book shelves, as does my humble collection of anime, snowboarding videos, martial arts books and comic books. As a tree trimmer by trade I have a natural inclination to arboriculture, but any work I can do with my hands really enthralls me.
I'm also the son of a chef - my mother and father own their own little restaurant - and therefor have experience in all areas of the restaurant business. This means that I can cook fairly well, but I'm always looking to improve my pallet and taste. Wine over beer, whiskey over mixed.
Don't be fooled though. Eating café style food is heart warming and delicious, but I am an avid healthy eater. Vegan, kosher, gluten free, organic; doesn't matter what it is or how it is prepared. If it sounds nutritiously sound I will try it. Most of the people I meet and hangout with turn their noses up to the food I eat, but I try hard to never let it get me down.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like good music regardless of the genre or time period. I even like cover songs! As long as it is pleasing to the ears or makes you think I am all about it. Live music is, of course, best. Jazz concerts, rock shows, EDM parties, musicals, bonfire blue-grass, beer bar country jams or whatever you can throw my way, I love it all. Hip-Hop and Rap dominate my iPod but there's a healthy amount of Jazz, easy listening and classical too. Where does my heart lie? Punk Rock.
I read plenty of books. Douglas Adams, Earnest Hemingway and (of course) J. K. Rowling are my favorite authors, but I never turn down a good book if you can recommend one. And I in turn have plenty to recommend.
Movies and TV shows have lost their luster on me over the years, but if you name it I've probably seen it at some point or another.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fought in a cage fight once, and lost. Lose or not though, I'm proud to say that I have willingly engaged in a consensual fight with another man. It was fun, it was exciting, it was powerful and I loved it. The lifestyle is a difficult and expensive one though, but part of why I love traveling is finding gyms and dojo's to go to and train in. I never did contact sports before that, and I made a pretty big jump, so trust me when I say that it is something that I really believe every can and should try.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to think that I'm a pretty good conversationalist, having read so much over the years. I can teach you how to trim a tree. Perhaps show you the basics of fighting. I can share insight into philosophical points of view. There's even some knowledge of cooking that's floating around in there. I've been learning how to landscape myself, and it is proving to be a challenge to learn a new trade, but I would happy to share what I know with whomever is willing to learn.
I'm also an avid learner and would be thrilled to be taught something by a host or fellow traveler!

What I Can Share with Hosts

There are some who are meant to work hard with their bodies as their main tool, and I am one of those people. Don't be afraid to put me to work! Especially if I find myself in an extended stay, just ask and I will always earn my keep. Need a tree trimmed? I can do that. Need your lawn mowed and hedges trimmed? Just gimme the mower and sheers. Want a full, healthy, filling meal cooked? Just put me in a kitchen and you shan't be disappointed!
