Whenever I travel, I like to get a local perspective on where I am, not just the tourist side - it's the only real way to get to know a place! And I hope to be able to offer the same experience to people visiting my city.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I'm a walking list of music recommendations and love making old-school mix CDs for people I meet - though making playlists works too when technology is limited ;) In terms of what I'm into at the moment, I really like Icelandic music (that's where my family is from originally) - I attended the Iceland Airwaves music festival in 2014 and encountered a whole stack of new artists that are in heavy rotation in my headphones.

Movies - I like a lot of movies that inspire travel - Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, Roman Holiday, Amelie, Midnight in Paris - but also some real thought-provoking films (I studied film in university).

Books - I'll stick with writers because it's too hard to pick out books - Zadie Smith, Haruki Murakami, Joseph Boyden, JD Salinger, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Douglas Coupland, Cheryl Strayed, Miriam Toews, Alain de Botton, and Bill Bryson.

Travelled solo through South America for five months!

I play piano and ukulele and love playing music and singing with other people!
I am an avid yogi and want to learn more about yoga in the world.
I love learning about history and knowledge tidbits about particular locations.
I love food - not only to find out where the best places to go out are, but some favourite local dishes to make that I can bring back home!
