Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda and covers 331Sq Km. It lies at the edge of the great western Rift valley, and is part of the highest block of Kigezi or Rukiga Highlands. Bwindi lies next to Congo border, about 29km by the north west of Kabale. The forest is a home to almost half of the endangered mountain gorillas, and is a habitat to 90 mammal species including11 primates. Forest birding ranks amongst the best in the country with 24 Albertine rift endemics such as African Green Broadbill, Shelley’s Crimsonwing, short tailed and Grauers Rush warblers. It is in Bwindi forest where the two great apes (Gorilla +chimpanzee) can be found.
