I am originally from the US, but have been living outside of it for quite some time now. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Amsterdam, and I also teach. Aside from academia, I enjoy craft beer, live music, biking, travelling and sitting in the sun on a nice day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people, and hope to have a place where I can host people one day. Couchsurfing allows people to connect and get to know others who might have never met otherwise, which is one of my passions. Getting to know the world, one person at a time.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most music. Movies are great but I am usually so busy that watching a movie means nap time for me, regardless if the movie is actually really entertaining. Books are a passion, and some of my favourite authors are Vonnegut, Steinbeck, and Kingsolver.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ummm... Peace Corps-Panama. Or perhaps my PhD research, where I live in a post-conflict village in Northern Sri Lanka researching women's access to natural resoureces amidst all male military presence.

Random factoids and knowledge. Some stroopwaffels. I also like to cook, and am pretty good at it. Even though I don't eat meat I have no problem preparing it.
