Overview
About Me
To put it simply, I am your stereotypically-friendly Canadian. I grew up in the Wild West; on the edge of the majestic Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. I transferred to a university in the UK to finish up my degree, where I've been now for two years. I decided that I should take advantage of my proximity to Europe while I'm still here, so…this is it! Couchsurfing seems the easiest and most student-friendly way to travel, and a grand way to meet true locals.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well, as a student, I am not exactly rolling in cash…the flights alone take up a lot of my hard-earned student loans, so couchsurfing seems like a good way to keep costs down for me. Being a stereotypical Canadian, I am friendly and very social, so I would much rather stay with & meet locals, rather than stay in a hotel or something.
Interests
My interests are vast. I grew up in a forest on the foot of the Rocky Mountains, so I love everything outdoors. I rock climb, downhill ski, mountainbike, alpine mountaineer, cave, hike, and longboard. I am studying fashion photography, so it is safe to say I love to take photographs. I am a hipster film-camera nerd; guaranteed to always have a camera in hand. I am a people-person, so…I like to talk with people. Develop friendships. I much prefer to Do things than just sit; adventure is my life partner and new horizons are my lullaby.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music tastes, too, are vast. It truly depends on my mood.
I listen to anything from classical Modest Mussorgsky to laid-back Jack Johnson to drum-and-bass-inspired Amon Tobin to the heartache-soothing Taylor Swift (no shame) to hip bands that no-one knows of like Vulfpeck to the velvet swooning of Ella Fitzgerald and onwards to soulful singers such as Allan Stone or Matt Corby, all the way through the ska genre to ragtime and swing, adding a dash of downtempo chillstep to classics like The Guess Who or Stevie Wonder to the modern tunes of Mac Demarco, then falling back to jazz musical masters like Stephane Grappelli.
Movies that entertain me these days are in the indie Wes Anderson field. Or war movies. Or the odd painful chick flick. Anything, really, as I am easy to please.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done so many amazing things because I am so amazing, but if I had to narrow it down…oh Lord I don't know if I can. I have dipped my fingers in many pies in my short life, but I suppose one of the things I'm most proud of is my service in the Canadian Army, serving in Kabul, Afghanistan when I was only 19. But I still have many years left in my life, so I might be able to top that.
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't quite understand what this box is for, so I will answer with whatever my brain comes up with.
TEACH: I can teach…dialects of Canadian slang…I can teach photography maybe!
LEARN: I can learn lots of things. I like to learn because sometimes I don't feel smart.
SHARE: It is hard for me to do, but I am willing to share my Nutella.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share friendship! I know that sounds cliché, but I feel like I am a pleasant person to be around (I'm usually okay with myself) and I love interacting with other people. I prefer to go to a pub for a pint and have the most random conversations, than go to nightclubs. And then if you want to come to Western Canada, I am sure I will have at least one or three couches to offer in return for yours.
