About Me

Recently relocated to The Windy City. I moved here to be able to better my life by going to college once I get settled. I come from a very small area (300 in my hometown) that does not have the lifestyle that a full grown GWM can thrive in. So I basically threw my life in a UHaul, put it in storage and moved here. I am currently working full time but have yet to receive my first check and saved enough to get a place. (I exhausted my savings with being unemployed and moving here.) I just basically need some compassionate people in my life who are able to help me out until I get on my feet. I'm doing my best not to lose everything I've worked this long and hard for whether it is what I own in storage or the fight to move to the city to explore culture and art. The only thing I would ask is the ability to use an outlet to hook my computer up to. Sadly, I don't have a laptop but need internet access to continue to find a permanent place. So, ideally, if I could crash during the work week, (Tuesday-Saturday) that would be ideal. Hoping to just do this long enough to get a few checks saved up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Originally, I found a "permanent host" that was willing to let me stay until I found a job. The plan was we were supposed to get a two bedroom place together once employed. Once I did find work, he back-lashed and stated that he did not want a roomie. So I went from having a place and no job to a job and no place. I paid him rent for the month of May, but the other day when he was at work, an officer served eviction papers to the house for lack of rent payment. The papers stated it was for lack of payment. The landlord's contact information was on the papers and I contacted her only to find out lies that were told to her about the arrangement. I let her know that I would be out of the residence as of Thursday, May 28th. I've arranged to put what I have here in the storage unit and stay with friends until June 1st. I was supposed to meet with someone this evening about sharing a room and he never showed. After speaking with the landlord and this "no-show", I have come to find out that he had not only told the landlord that he was not paying May's rent but using it for a deposit on another place. (Including what I'd given him for rent), but that the person I was meeting up with was a set-up. He basically had me move in to get a month's worth of rent off me to move and leave me on the street. I do not want to end up homeless or lose my job and belongings. I just need a "Hand up".

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music varies from Oldies, current pop, country, showtunes/broadway, to 80's classics. I am currently reading Wicked and enjoying it quite a bit. Had to kind of put it down for the moment whereas other priorities lie first. I love horror, romantic comedies, suspense, and musicals.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a gay male, the most amazing accomplishment I've achieved to date is father a child. (That story is one over a bottle of wine!!! LOL)

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn the public transportation system in Chicago. Currently it is a bit overwhelming for me. I'm sure in time I'll get it. But any tips would be appreciated. As long as I am able to do research on my computer the night before hand, I'm usually pretty good about mapping out a route to work or where I need to go.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be more that willing to help cook (or do it on my own for you!!), do dishes, clean, dog/babysit, any other chores asked. I'd even be willing to walk the dogs for you!!! As stated, I am trying to save money by going this route, but would have no issues contributing to the cost of food. I do receive $100 LINK/mo. and am willing to share for meals. I also am a former cosmetologist, so if we are hanging out and you need a trim, want a french braid whipped in before you go out, or just a manicure, I'd be happy to help. Love doing makeup as well!!!
