Hi! My name is Szymon (you can call Simon) and I'm from Lodz, Poland. I'm absolutely new member on CS but I've heared a lot about this idea. What's more I work for international non-profit organization and there we have host families so I know what CS is about ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I still live with my parents and there is no way to host someone. On the other hand, I don't travel a lot because of my work and lack of money... But this year my friend go for volunteering to Kragujevac in Serbia for 6 weeks. It's really long time so I decide to go on the Journey of My Life and meet with her!

Journey of My Life has 4 main goals:

1. Meet with my friend in Serbia - it's obvious. One time Ania has called me and she said: 'I forgot my T-shirt, could you send it to me, please?'. Well, it's normal in our friendzone relationship. But how can I send it? By post-office? It's to obvious and too much time. By email? Impossible. Hmm... maybe I should go to her and give it by myself? - and I decide to do it.

2. See a big part of Southern Europe - I'm going through Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia&Herzegovina to Serbia, and throug Hungary and Slovakia back to Poland. 8 countries, 8 capitols, 4 times across the Danube. Sounds crazy, due to my mom it's the most dangerous travel in whole history of world, but I like it (travel of course). I'm interested in urbanism, so the opportunity to see how the cities of different countries look like is for me one of the most important reason of this journey.

3. Go out of my comfort zone and improve my English - for me this 'tour' will be something new in life. I've never traveled abroad alone. One of the reason is not-well knowledge of English. But that what I need to really improve my English is... speaking of course :P so I decide to go abroad to do that. What's more I decide to create an event on facebook, where I'll try to describe day by day what I see and what I think.

4. Last but not least: reckognize the social problems and the solutions for them - as I wrote above I'm working in non-profit organization. What's more I come from the city which has a lot of social problems and very bad image. Because of history of my city people call it 'polish Detroit'. I don't want to live like that whole my life. I belive that people in the world have the same problems, but different solutions. I would like to rekognize it and share it with my friend - maybe some of them change life of polish people. Why not?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm working in AIESEC - student's organization. We have 16 committees in whole Poland, about 1000 members in country.
I'm a person responsible for finance stuff in one of local committee. One year ago I've started to create a system, which is really effectivness, and we've earn a lot of money :P few day ago I've had a session about my financial solution for all the most important people in organization. That was really crazy for me, beacuse, to be honest, I'm a very shy person, and public speaking is not my strenght. But the people liked it!
