About Me

I am not that good at describing myself , my name is Juliana and I am in my twenties. I've slowly trying to figure out what I want to do with my life since I was a teenager - I always imagined that I'd be this mature person, who had so many things figured out when I was younger, but reality doesn't really work like that haha :).
I go to law school. However , I am on the poor side of the law since I like human rights, social sciences and public policies.
I am a bit shy, but I like meeting new interesting people.I love people with sense of humour, specially those with a sharp and silly sense of humour - it seems to be contradicting , but it's really not.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Not that long ago, I was travelling Word a friend when she suggested that we Couchsurfed. I had already done "informal" Couchsurfing, like staying in friends of friends of friends houses or hosting friends of friends, but I had never tried the "real" way - to go to a completely stranger house or to receive someone I had no knowledge of. At first , I was a bit weary of the idea - I grew up in a city that is slightly violent and that people sometimes try to con you , so I was a bit paranoid about this idea and couldn't really grasp why someone would open their houses and personal space to a stranger .
Then I Couchsurfed and it was truly amazing. There's this feeling of openness and generosity that I came to appreciate and admire greatly - it's a relation based on trust between two virtual strangers. There's a real change and this unique circumstance allow you to get to know a person that otherwise you would never cross ways and to form this bond based on trust and generosity . In a world like hours , with long work hours and so much information it's rare to have this moment.
I am very greatful to Couchsurfing to give me the opportunity to open up again and to meet so many amazing people, to know that there are still so many good people around and to get to know the real lives of people in a certain place. If we stay in a hostel, it's still nice and fun, we meet a lot of people, but we don't usually get the real feeling of the daily life and struggles and delights of some city .
So, I am in Couchsurfing because for me it has become one of the best ways to travel :)

Interests

I am interested in lots of things . I am really into drawing, but I just recently I've taken it more seriously, so any pairing or drawing tip is greatly appreciated :).
I love books ( non fiction and fiction). I don't usually pay much attention to the genre. I like graphic novels and movies and TV series as well. Lately , I've been trying to search for good female characters in the stories I consume.
I am interested in social sciences and history . I know a lot of random and useless but silly historical facts.
I love music, even if I can't play an instrument or to sing.
And of course , I like traveling . I love going both to vibrant cities and to small villages. I love the ocean and I'd like to learn to dive someday.
One recent interest is photography . I've been trying to study a little bit of photography and photo editing and I love to go out to take pictures.
