About Me

Introdution
This novel is based on the Saffron Revolution of the Burmese Monks which took place in Burma (Myanmar), September 2007. Ashin Yevata was one of the monk leaders in the protest, just before the Tibetan unrest in 2008. Burma had been under military dictatorship for 60 years.
These are his accounts during this time. In this novel, he mixes Buddhist philosophy, Burmese culture, western culture, Burmese politics, love and his daily experiences with foreign people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Preface
My name is Ashin Yevata, I was a monk leader who organized the monks and people in Yangon in the Saffron Revolution of Monks in 2007 in Myanmar (Burma), and writer of this novel. Since I was 3 years old, I have lived in a monastery as a monastic boy. From the age of 5 years old, I started to study public and Buddhist education. Since 2003 I had been able to study foreign languages in a gratis monastic school in Yangon. Then, I have had the chance to communicate with foreigners. I was especially interested in the people who came from Western civilization, far away from Buddhism. After meeting with western visitors and studying western philosophy as well as literatures, I now understand the force and the weakness of their mind.
I had the desire to mix my literatures and arts with Buddhist philosophy. I found that I preferred to write freely. This idea however, is not possible in Myanmar. So I have not been able to publish any of my writing in Myanmar. If I try to get the registration for my literatures in Myanmar, I will be put into jail by the Myanmar government and Myanmar superstitious religious society. This is why I prefer to publish my literatures in English in a foreign place. As of now, I have already translated five articles, five poems and two long novels (Revolution of the Monks) and (The Eight Path Ways for Life) written in my own style which can help people to understand clearly Buddha’s Philosophy, and Burmese people who know English language well. I wrote many poems, essays, long novels in Myanmar language, including a novel (A Visit to a Meditation Centre with a Spanish woman).
In this novel (Revolution of the Monks), I have used nicknames of people for their security. I tried my best not to make any mistake in this book. However, I translated this book with Burmese and foreign people from Burmese language to English and French languages. If I have made mistakes in this book, I apologize to all.
After Saffron Revolution of Monks 2007 in Myanmar, I moved to France from the Thailand-Burma border. In 2013, I became a coach for Meditation, Relaxation and sport. I now give courses in Europe on Insight Meditation (Vipasana) and Wellbeing.
Profits from this book will be used to fund free Wellbeing Centers in Europe and Asia. Investors and volunteers are welcome to contact me at http://lasandar.com/ for participation details.
I need some corporation from the people who are interested in my writing. Anyone who is interested can give me any suggestions, please contact me.
I do hereby acknowledge with thanks to all, especially Doctor Aung Min Screenwriter of the film (THE MONK), Doctor San San Oo (M.B.B.S), Mr. Steve Henderson, (Professional Photographer at perfectspeedphotography), Mr . Daniel Massidda (Graphic Designer) and Mr. Bernard Banoviez (Informatician), who helped me for translating and publishing this book. I must record my indebtedness to them.

May you be well and happy.
Ashin
