About Me

Hello! My name is Morgan and I'm an English teacher at a German Oberschule (grades 5-10). I've moved around much of my life, studying abroad and working overseas. While it's hard to pick a favorite experience, teaching English at a women's University in Saudi Arabia was certainly the most unique experience!

I love trying new things - foods, sports, languages - and am excited to learn. I hope to meet you soon and get to know more about you and the life you're willing to share!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love learning about other cultures and how people live their lives - when I travel, I want to know more about a place than its tourist sights. I'd love to talk to you and learn more about your life and country! In return, I can share my own stories, or just listen. I think meeting new people and building positive relationships is one of the most magnificent things we can do with our lives.

Interests

The short: Languages, traveling, hiking, reading, writing, baking, kickboxing/MMA

The long: My hobbies depend on what's available wherever I am. When I lived in Alaska, I took up ice climbing and learned to climb glacier walls and into deep moulins (the holes in the ice). When I worked on a ranch in Colorado, I rode horses as often as possible.

My constant hobby is hiking. I love getting out in the fresh air and exploring a landscape. While I enjoy cities, sometimes they all start to look the same or blend together; the mountains never do.

Music, Movies, and Books

So many books! I won't go into details here, but if you need a book to remind you of summer and leave you feeling uplifted, I recommend Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gotten to meet some really cool people! One such person was a Bedouin in Petra, Jordan. He took me and a friend to an incredible lookout point that most people don't get to access. We felt very lucky!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a conscientious traveller. No addition to swapping stories, I help whenever possible, from doing the dishes to making dinner to waking the dog.

P.S. I'll bring you chocolate!

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, United States
