About Me

I'm an open-minded, active person who likes to read, listen to or play music (especially jazz), and travel. I was born in a city called Inchon, Korea but I've lived most of my life in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Thanks to my parents, I was fortunate to study at an international school where students from approx. 45 different countries attended. After graduating from high school I came back to my home country and stayed here ever since.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Ever since I've came to Korea, I have felt that something in my life was missing. Now, I understand that this was travelling to new places and meeting new people. For almost 10 years, I have been too busy studying and working. It occurred to me that it's “now or never” to invest in what I love the most.

Interests

economics, current events, history, philosophy, playing various instruments (saxophone, guitar, piano, etc), listening to jazz, reading, traveling, movies.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite musicians are John Coltrane, Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, Keith Jarret, and Michel Petrucciani. My best read this year was the ascent of money by Neall Ferguson. The movie Patch Adams is so far my favorite movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was serving in the army, I volunteered to be dispatched to Iraq. Being aware that the Korean Army's mission was "peace and reconstruction", I wanted to be a part of this mission. I served for approx. 6 month as a military band officer, an interpreter and an administrative officer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

One of the most important things in life is to be "opened"; Opened to new people, experiences, and knowledge. I'm glad to share what I've learned throughout my life with humor, sincerity and honesty.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Iraq, Netherlands, Oman, Palau, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United States
