I made this account a couple years ago when I first traveled alone. I went to Portugal and Spain by myself for a few weeks but eventually didn't need to use CS.

Next year I will be travelling again. This time it will be for a longer time. I'm planning on going to Central and South America starting in Guatemala. I have bought a ticket to Guatemala City and a return flight from Panama City eight months later.

I want to use couchsurfing this time mainly to meet new people who can show me the nice places you can't find on tripadvisor or other travel related apps (and to reduce costs of course).

My concerns are that I don't have any references because I've never hosted anyone. I hope that this doesn't interfere with me looking for a host.
