About Me

Hey everyone!

My name is Bára (Barbora) and I am a 22 yo student of Multimedia at the University of Economics in Prague. I spent a semester in Strasbourg, France on an exchange stay and that’s where I truly got to know Couchsurfing, as we used it with my friends while we were traveling.

With the field of my studies, you could guess that I'm a kind of multimedia lover. My main field that I focus on is photography - what I enjoy the most is mostly taking photos while traveling, capturing all the moments I never want to forget. You can watch my Instagram ( instagram.com/barpeskova ) or online portfolio ( barborapeskova.myportfolio.com ) or my blog, where I share the photos from my travels ( barborapeskova.wordpress.com ) :))

My favorite way how to spend my free time, as a big nature and animals lover, is taking the dogs (and my camera, of course) for a loooong walk in a forest and just relax.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best moments of life come to me when I break my own limits and meet new people. I think that we can all learn so much from meeting other people and other cultures. Also, meeting new people always inspires me and motivates me. In my opinion, the best way how to discover a new place is to travel with no plans, get in touch with the locals and just see where it takes me! So if you happen to be somewhere around me, do not hesitate to contact me and we can hangout together :) That is why I am on CS, because I want to meet you and make my (or your) trip unforgettable!

Interests

Art, multimedia, photography - I focus on photography, but love anything else related to this field. I would definitely love to learn something new from anybody who has passion in this as well!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - The genre doesn't matter to me as much as I find something interesting and unusual in a song. That is why my music library (you can watch it here last.fm/user/papibo-piskot) consists of a big amount of various things :) My current favorites - Caravan Palace, Macklemore, Vulfpeck, Joey Dosik, Matt Corby ; my all time favorites - alt-J, God Is An Astronaut, Coldplay, Maroon5, Muse, Ed Sheeran, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Arctic Monkeys

Movies - I go to the cinema to see about everything and like I've already mentioned before for music, I like a lot of different genres (not so much into horror though). My favorite movies - It's All Gone Pete Tong, Le Roi et l'Oiseau, Forrest Gump, Tron: Legacy ; favorite TV shows - Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Orange Is The New Black, Tintin, Krtek (Czech TV show for kids :D)... and a lot of others

Books - My all time favorite - The Swiss Family Robinson for sure! Must've read it at least 15 times and it's still not enough. I own an old print of this that I got from my father who was already reading it as a kid. The reason why I love it so much is that it's about traveling and surviving in the wild nature as a family.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I attended the LowCost Race (lowcostrace.com all in czech, sorry :( ) in summer 2017 - the main aim of this crazy race is to travel through Europe during 10 days with as little money as possible, depending only on the help of the others, and by doing this, proving that people in general are good. Proving that no matter where you are, you can find someone who’s willing to help you, to provide food and accommodation or who just simply wants to be friends with you and get to know your culture. Thanks to accepting this extraordinary challenge, we experienced traveling in a way I had never imagined before. And I loved it.
During the race we made many friends and succeeded in a lot of crazy challenges - just to list a few of them, we managed to hitchhike a helicopter in France, jumped from a 19m high cliff in Italy, lost all our money in a casino in Monace in the middle of our race (so we had to finish it with really no money at all), hitchhiked a van of one of the most famous singer in the Czech republic (who took us to a music festival with him and made us dance on the stage together with the band) and many others! I will love to tell you more details about this in person if we meet :)
