Overview
About Me
I'm a 30 year old 1.86m (average size for a Dutch male) Student who graduated with a BA of arts in Japanese Language and Culture. Currently working myself a way through the final stages of my Master. Living alone with my two cats.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Got a relatively sizable appartment and a lot of rooms being unused. For this reason I was looking for ways to supply some sort of lodging for people who want to be at a location somewhat close to Amsterdam and would perhaps like to see the flowery capital of the Netherlands.
It was also suggested to me by a good friend, so decided to give it a shot. I hope it will be a great opportunity to learn from people of other cultures as well.
Interests
I'm a huge fan of Japanese modern popular audiovisual culture and enjoy a fair share of games. While I'm not a console gamer, I do have a wii gameready (not a wiiU or the more mature consoles, sorry. Only wii exclusives interested me, got a PC for the rest). Do enjoy a good drink and going out in company.
Furthermore, I am a fan of cooking (including Dutch "cuisine") and like to go out to do some cycling if the weather's not terrible.

Music, Movies, and Books
Rather than naming a particular book, a genre is probably more worthwhile. I enjoy fantasy novels and Japanese manga. Do have a minor interest in some of the older American literature (Moby Dick, House of Mirth to name a couple).
Music taste is relatively broad, ranging from classical music to punk and from trance to celtic. I am not a fan or rap, RnB, Hiphop and the high BPM electronic music (house / hardstyle). Most metal except for death and grunt metal is fine and do have a niche interest in JPop / JRock.
A huge fan of movies, both old and new. I do limit myself mostly to Hollywood stuff, so not terribly big on Arthouse or foreign movies. Do not dislike a particular genre, but have prefered genres in Horror, Sci-fi and general spectacle / superhero movies. Those are best watched in the cinema though...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm more the modest type, so don't like to inflate my achievements, but the most memorable thing I have done is going to Japan for 6 weeks to follow a language course.
Teach, Learn, Share
The village I live is a place relatively close to Amsterdam by train (under an hour) and it is also a (or the) city of flowers. Furthermore, the beach is only a short car trip away from here and I do have access to transportation to get there (assuming time permits).
The aforementioned Dutch cuisine I can provide with as well and while my interests do not particularly lie in Dutch culture per se, my upbringing should at least allow me to cover the basics :)
