I'm 46; my friends call me Mieke.
Been a Widow for over 20 years now and because of that I'm retired. I still work a few days a week because i like to work & the social contacts that comes with it... I'm easy going and and love to travel!
My granddaughter, who's 6y old lives with me part-time. She demands some of my time and energy as well. lol

I'd be glad to host people when i'm at home but i do travel a lot myself. Just ask and i'll check if the date is available :-D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hope to meet some nice people, make new friends from all around the world. Both as a host and and as traveler.

As host: great way to meet people from all around the world, tell you all you want to know about our country, point out some interesting things to see/visit/eat.

As traveler: It's a great way to meet the locals, get to know habbits, culture, local food etc

Interests

Traveling is what i like to do most. Als all kinds of handcrafts, hiking, crossword puzzles, joined postcrossing and love to cook.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Everything but classical music
Movies: I don't watch a lot of television but like the Harry Potter movies and pirates of the carribean.
Books: None at all :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Few years ago i've been to Spain on a holiday in one of those all-in hotels with my granddaughter (who lived with me at that moment) and a friend of mine.
It didn't feel right to be in that place because of all the tourists (i kow...i was one of them ;-) ) In stead of following the crowd to the beach or visiting tourist stuff i made contact with the locals. Got close with a few of them. One had an appartement for rent. I rented that place and stayed in Spain for a year. Although i didn"t plan it that way, i didn't take the flight back home.
It was the best thing i ever did, best times of my life!!!

And about 10 years ago i worked for television as a stunt woman. Did some crazy things back then but now i've gotten a little more carefull :-D

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, help you clean, teach you a few words Dutch, French and/or English, tell you about the way we live & about Belgium in general,...
Sure there are more things i could do/share but they don't come to mind right now.
