I'm Maya! My parents are both from England but they moved to Barcelona, Spain, when they were young and had me :) So, I've been brought up in Spain and consider myself spanish since I only go back to England for Christmas and other special occasions to meet up with my family. We moved to Mallorca soon after I was born, where my sister was born and we moved to a beautiful village in the Mountains called Alaro. We've lived there ever since. I've always been very interested in science and how we can innovate in such a field, which is why I did my bachelors in Biotechnology. During those 4 years, I found out I wanted to learn and find out how I could contribute to human health (without being a doctor, I freak out with open wounds), so Regenerative Medicine was the way to go. Now, I'm living in Utrecht, the Netherlands doing an internship at the UMC and working as a waitress to pay my bills.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I didn't actually know this existed until a friend told me about it. This summer I have 10 days of and I want to travel somewhere, haven't chosen where exactly yet. Maybe South Italy, but I'm still looking into it. I have asked friend and family if they would like to do something, but I'm out of luck.

So, I have decided for the first time ever to travel alone. I think the best way to meet knew people and to really grasp the culture and sites of a place you have never seen before is not by going to a hotel. So, I thought of trying couchsurfng for a change.
