What Exactly is Warehouse 701?

The Warehouse is in fact made up of 15 diverse showrooms that are set within what was a former munitions factory throughout World War I. These days, our central business of salvaging architectural materials and pieces has developed into an ecosystem of the old and the new. We buy, we sell, and we provide items for those who wish to hire for public and private events.

About the Warehouse

Situated in Hereford, on the 230 acres Rotherwas IndustrialEstate, Warehouse 701 sits proudly on what was at one time the site for National Shell Filling Factory No 4.

However, Warehouse 701, which was previously known as Wye Valley Reclamation, has in fact been involved in the trading of architectural salvage from as far back as 1954. Warehouse 701 has now expanded regarding what has almost always been at the core of its business – reclaimed home, structural, and garden elements, and now it supplies a complimentary array of new items, too.

The new product line is inclusive of exclusive garden furniture and garden accessories, various homeware products, in addition to the Annie Sloan range.

The Warehouse 701 Building

At its very peak, the munitions factory that has now evolved into Warehouse 701, employed some 6,000 workers. Around 4,000 of the workers were named "Canary girls" because of jaundice that they suffered from handling different types of munitions.

Warehouse 701 is likewise situated on the boundaries of the Hereford to Ross railway, which has been closed down as a result of the 1963 Report by Lord Beechings. The line was part of the internal rail system that joined the munitions factories in the area. Many of the rail sections are still to be uncovered to this day.
