About Me

Hello, I am a Korean Canadian student currently in Prague on exchange student program from Hong Kong.

I've lived in few diffferent places in my life and thus have some cool experiences (I think) to share. I love thinking and behaving in my own way because it makes me feel alive. It might be the result of living in too many different cultures since I don't hold much cultural values in my life. But it makes me very open to different thoughts and unique in a way that I have a very strong opinion but I never hesitate to accept other people's opinion.

I mean, overall, who am I to judge whether anyone is right or wrong? We are all right in our own way. It makes this world a whole lot better place to live in!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a programmer with interests in many many things outside the computer, and is currently in attempt to visit as many places as possible in Europe.
Unfortunately, I've been experiencing difficulty overcoming the language barriers here and was hoping to have a chance to communicate with more locals through couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am often told to read boring books, but they interest me in a way that it makes me disapprove my own thoughts.
My all time favorite book is Das Kapital by Karl Marx (yes boring) and On Liberty by J.S. Mill (yes boring)
But most of the times, I spend reading books from any discipline just except the romantic poems and fictions.

Same goes for movies and music! My all time favorite movies are the Star Wars Trilogy, Tron and Leon the Professional. But I watch anything if I have time.

My personal taste in music leans towards Jazz since I used to play Jazz Trombone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once in my trip to Urumqi, Xinjiang Province, China, the Uyghurs had a riot and PRC government declared martial law on the province. I had to trek across the Turpan to reach Gansu provice in order to get back to Shanghai. Our camel died during the journey (we got scammed in the market, supposed to be a young and healthy camel) and there were times I thought everything was over, but I still cannot forget the view of sky in the nights, filled with stars and brilliant moon. But I have to admit the best part of the trip was the lunch we had with the local nomads during the trip.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer conversation over very broad spectrum, which I anticipate from couchsurfing as well. I have a huge curiousity in anything that I am not educated on. We can talk about culture, politics, religion, economics, human rights, feminism, technology (especially computer related but it could be any technology), SOCCER, cooking, and you-make-what. I find joy in accepting conflicting opinions because I believe everyone on earth has their own reason to be right.

But if you are absolutely tired of extensive conversations, I can offer asian-quality chores and some asian cookings if we have some ingredients. I also have experiences on teaching programming and discrete mathematics for all age groups, and last of the list, I can play trombone. But I don't have my trombone with me here.
