Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My girlfriend lives and studies in Paris, and I live in Manchester, we don't get to see each other often and the ability to sleep on someone's couch would greatly increase the chances of being able to be together more. Plus it beats sleeping under a bridge on the Seine.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Smiths, Talking Heads, Françoise Hardy, TOY, Fat White Family, ALVVAYS, The Fall, Nico, Joy Division. Such is the back-bedroom casualty lifestyle. Primarily I read poetry, these days (Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot, Frank O'Hara, Sylvia Plath, A.E. Housman, Arthur Rimbaud, Philip Larkin) to name a few, but some of my favourite novelists include Thomas Hardy, Emile Zola, Thomas Pynchon, Virginia Woolf, Thomas Mann and James Joyce. I like what I've read of Voltaire too, but that's admittedly not very much.

Film is also a major interest, specifically New Wave cinema, be it French, Italian or British. Think The 400 Blows, or The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, or A Taste of Honey, or La Dolce Vita. Other directors I very much love are Wim Wenders, Tony Richardson, Werner Herzog and François Truffaut.
