About Me

Hey hey! Welcome to Serbia! You have chosen the place with best food, drinks and fun in the whole Balkans! Excellent choice! Now let's see, how can I be of assistance? Feel free to message me anytime. Cheers!

About me: I work a lot, have my own very busy rhythm of living and due to my work obligations I'm frequently out of town. I also travel a lot, love to dance salsa, to go out with my friends, read books, discover different cuisines, listen to music, write some thoughts, discover other cultures and share ideas. People would say I'm quite direct, pretty decisive, very optimistic, really honest, fun, well informed, nice orator, true gentleman, persistent, decent chef, party animal, strong in beliefs, generous and polite.

I like challenges in all areas both professional and personal, to learn about other cultures and people. I like to spend some time in nature and countryside away from the cities, traffic, phone and internet. Music is very important to me, I don't spend a day without listening to it, so feel free to share your favorite songs with me.

I'm relaxed and easy going person that just might make you laugh all the time with my stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meet new people from all over the world, learn how to make traditional dishes from different cultures, improve my language skills, provide insight into Serbian hospitality, culture and history, exchange ideas and points of view, share a meal with strangers and make friends with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Interests

If I have some spare time I might give you a short tour around the city. Feel free to ask for tips or details on the sights in the city even if you're not staying with me.
Bring me a spice or local fruit from your country, let's share a recipe and cook together!
I'll return the favor with offering you unique Serbian rakija (fruit brandy) and traditional coffee/tea.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Historical, drama and comedy; Books: Colleen McCullough, David Morrell, Slavomir Nastasijević, Steven Presfield; Music: Blues, Jazz, Rock, Rock 'n' roll, house, techno, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s you name it :) Anything except "turbo folk", 90s, some rap music and generally any kind of violent or depressive music. Favorite series: Vikings, Spartacus, Designated survivor, Homeland, Salvation, Chernobyl, the Simpsons, Family guy... Favorite movies: Horrible bosses 1 and 2, Pursuit of happiness, Collateral beauty, The notebook, Shawshank redemption, Bridge of spies, The dictator, Dirty dancing, Law abiding citizen, We were soldiers, Ugly truth, John Wick 1/2/3, The reader, Outlander, Gladiator, Schindler's list... Basically any movie with Gerald Butler, Will Smith, Mel Gibson, Keanu Reeves, Russell Crowe, Robin Williams, Bruce Willis and Tom Hanks which are (with Shean Connery and Danny Glover of course) the very best Hollywood actors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been Red Cross volunteer, been a co-founder of an NGO that creates equal opportunities for education of children, been UN peacekeeper in the Middle East, named some streets in Belgrade and towns across Serbia, graduated from 2 Universities at the same time, made a small museum, helped to build a church, started writing a book, initiated return of national heritage to the country of origin, saved a person's life by providing the first aid, planted some trees, participated in filming several movies and series, wrote few songs and movie scripts, managed to visit some quite hidden places (Holy Mountain in Greece, library of Serbian Orthodox church Patriarchy, 4000 year old olive trees in Middle East, hidden archives, WW2 tunnels and bunkers), took a ride in marshal Tito's presidential cars (ex marshal of the great Yugoslavia), took a swim in the Atlantic Ocean outside the swimming season (one really bad idea) and been to quite a few other unique places around the world and did some exciting things which I might tell you about if we meet.
