About Me

Hi, I'm Hui-Yu from Taiwan, an undergrad majoring in English and learning Spanish. I like nature, animals, hiking, acting, meeting people, and learning about different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like everyone else here, my biggest dream is to travel around the world, yet it's not so easy with a tight budget. I've heard many great stories from travelers who use Couchsurfing, so here I am. I wish to become a traveler with many amazing stories as well :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I like pop songs with strong beats and fast rhythm. They fill me with energy and make me want to dance.
Movies:
I like all kinds of movies except horror.
Books:
Harry Potter (considering the fact that I've read them many times)
Shantaram (an autobiography-like novel that tells the story of a convicted Australian bank robber's adventure in Mumbai, India)
The Alchemist (an international bestseller that carries a special meaning for me)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jul. 2016 / Jul. 2017
I went to rural area of Mumbai, India twice to teach the school kids English and some interesting lessons. There I became friends with the kids and met so many nice and generous people that made me fall in love with the country. While I was there the second time, I managed to learn the basics of their local language, Marathi, in two weeks and could sing the most popular Marathi song, Zinggat, during the festivals.
Sep. 2018
I backpacked in southeast Australia, including Melbourne, Philip Island, Tasmania, and Adelaide for 17 days! It was my first time planning the whole trip, traveling on my own, and staying in strangers’ houses as a Couchsurfer. I met so many kind generous hospitable people who went far out of their way to drive me, accommodate me, or simply keep me company while I didn't even dare to ask for any of them. It was an amazing trip not only because of the breathtaking views and marvelously cute animals, but also because of all the genuinely great people I've met during the trip.
Dec. 2018/ Jan. 2019
I initially worked as an au pair in Galicia, Spain but ended up quitting my job (as I was treated terribly by the spoiled children) at the beginning of January and stayed at one of my previous host’s place for the rest of the month. I got to explore Galicia as a local, try many of its amazing food, and most importantly, meet some of the kindest, nicest and most generous people in the world!
Apr. 2019
I backpacked in Western Australia. When I was in Dunsborough, I WALKED from Canal Rocks to Injidup Beach for 4 hours (accidentally took many wrong trails) and saw a magnificent sunset. On the way back, I walked in the complete dark in the bushes for 15 minutes and luckily hitchhiked back to the hostel in the end.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Mandarin, Taiwanese culture or Asian culture. I love to learn languages; it enriches my world while I cannot travel.

What I Can Share with Hosts

(I'm NOT looking for sex! Please do not message me if this is what you're expecting.)
I'll just be honest. I'm not a good cook; I don't play musical instruments; I like to draw or take photos, but nothing professional. However, I have a childlike mind that is always energetic, curious and enthusiastic about things around. I believe I can share with you my sense of humor, smile, and laughter :D
