About Me

Hi! I am a student from the Czech republic on the way to become a software developer (which I partly already am) and computer scientist (don't get scared, I can talk in plain language too).

I listen to music a lot and I listen to very wide range of music, but usually nothing in the middle. That is, I like local shows of some extreme hardcore bands as well as atmospheric ambient post rock compositions. I need a music originated in conviction and passion, not in greed for money. I play guitar and alike instruments and drums, and try to compose some music as well.

I also like reading (and listening to perhaps even more) poetry, especially one that is not limited by rational language and strict rhyme patterns, and is describing the state of the soul or the world. Sometimes I make an attempt to write a poem too.

I already mentioned my interest in computer science. Just to add, I don't want to be a monkey writing code. I want to learn the theory behind interesting stuff. It usually involves mathematics, and honestly, I love that super-expressivness and exactness of this field.

There are some other hobbies of mine, but this triple is probably the most noteworthy. I will be happy to talk about anything which may interest me because even interests can evolve over time and I am open to let others to influence me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I found out that when I am traveling, to visit the Eiffel tower is fine, but to attend a local show of my favorite genre is way much better. Finding such events and places, which are usually not in travel guides, is quite hard if you are visiting the place for the first time (and arguably even for the second, the third, and so on). Getting to know a person who can show you these things is, how people from MasterCard would say, priceless.

But honestly, I am shy to start a conversation with a stranger by myself. Couchsurfing is a really good opportunity to meet people who are willing to meet other people. And when the barrier gets broken, the fun and mind enrichment can begin.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can listen to very wide range of music, but it usually should be either harsh, emotional or atmospheric, be it guitar music, electronic or classical. I think that naming bands and artists is unnecessary, I rather enjoy attending local shows and it does not matter who is playing if the music is good.

In terms of books, well, Howl by Allan Ginsberg was probably the reason I started to enjoy poetry, so anything of similar genre has good chance that I like it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We recorded an album with my band from high school days, completely "do it yourself". I was the main composer of music, but I do not take credit for that (we were band, not a group of individual musicians). What is amazing on this? I still enjoy listening to it nowadays.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you programming and some topics of computer science, which I think have a quite solid knowledge of. Even some mathematics is possible, although my knowledge is not as solid as in the computers case, but I am always willing to learn new things and try to explain them.

I play guitar and drums. I don't know if I am a good teacher, but we can try.

Also I can show you some places in Prague which I find interesting, but they are not considered noteworthy by usual travel guides.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, England, France, Italy, Netherlands, Scotland
