About Me

trying to maintain my love of travel even though we are living live with three young kiddies.

I like anything random and absurd yet all things I set out to accomplish are with much heart and integrity. Yeah, I'd say thats me in a nutshell. I'm also entertained pretty easily. I appreciate the little things. Some things I'm proud of: I played Profesional Roller Derby with the Chicago Chiefs and the SF Bay Bombers in 2000-2002, Had two game show appearances broadcasted live on TV, Recently spent some time traveling/living in an Airstream (It broke down in Nashville. There is more to mention of course but you'll just have to meet me. I travel whenever possible, and plan to travel extensively for the rest of my life. Currently I am starting a non profit called "reTool Pittsburgh" it's a tool library and home renovators co-op. I have lived in Fresno, San Francisco, Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, Minneapolis, MN, Nashville, TN, Manchester, NH and Pittsburgh, PA. I have traveled most of the Carribean, Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, and 40 US states. I am currently living in a rowhouse in Brighton Heights with my Husband Bill and our dog SueBaby and cat, Lois. This house is a full gut rehab project. We moved in without running water or electricity. Despite it's state of "being rough around the edges" it is still a very cozy house. Just please bring flip flops or some sort of slip ons cause there could still be an occasional nail or staple on the ground. Oh life as a home owner. I'd like to consider myself fun, giving, outgoing, respectful, 90% open minded. I say 90% cause I still have my opinions and stand by those. Does your city have record stores? Please tell me about it!!

Rethink the old saying, "Make a nice living for yourself".
Makes no sense if you ask me.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Been members since Oct. 2005 (19 months after CS began), and Ambassador (city, country and now family amb) for almost 3 years now. When the circuits blew and couch surfing came a falling in 2006, I had tears. Yay for CS2! I tell all the right people about it, we were mentioned in the local news paper about CS too. My mother is so proud. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07287/824742-51.stm - For now working on connecting cs families the NE Region and encouraging more families to be active with CS.

I have couchsurfed in the US, Puerto Rico, Iceland, France, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Netherlands and Belgium. I have hosted couchsurfers from Switzerland, US, and the UK. It's the only way, really. I organized Nashville's first CS meet up, and I just orgainzed with the help of the other awesome CSers here in Pittsburgh a 3 day Regional Weekender Event. I am doing what I can to better the site and improve the CS project. I started couchsurfing - (not through the CS site) about 15 years ago because I would travel to see bands play, or my band would stay with somebody when we toured and touring bands would stay with me - I still let them stay with me.

all types of music, contemporary art, pop culture, arctic expeditioning, photography, magazines, my pets, making new friends, collecting snowglobes, thrift store shopping, shell and rock picking, languages, skateboarding, reading, snowboarding, hiking, sight seeing, knitting, crafting, cooking, Gutiar Hero, renting horses by the hour and becoming a mom!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to practice my spanish speaking skills with you! Also I once learned the coolest train travel tip: If you have perishables you can tie a knot at the end of a plastic bag and stick the perishables out the window. The knot will hold your bag in place and your cheese will stay cold during your overnight trip! Sweeeeet! If you stay with us you might learn a thing or two about home renovation too and how to buy an inexpensive house in Pittsburgh.
