About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"There is grandeur in this view of life..." Darwin

ABOUT ME

I'm a graduate student working on my dissertation in philosophy, but I take every excuse to travel!

PHILOSOPHY

"To be clear-headed rather than confused; lucid rather than obscure; rational rather than otherwise; and to be neither more, nor less, sure of things than is justifiable by argument or evidence. That is worth trying for." -Sir Geoffrey Warnock

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've stayed with CS-ers since my first trip abroad, and have had many good experiences traveling and hosting. Though I can't host now, I still like to participate by helping people to enjoy my beautiful city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I began my couchsurfing experience with a month-long trip through western Europe in 2006. Since then, I've met up with CS-ers all around the world and hosted frequently in Toronto. Thanks to CS, I've stayed in a french animal-rights anarchist commune, a squat house, on the seaside in Italy and on a rooftop in Hungary. It's the best way to travel!

Interests

Philosophy, cognitive neuroscience, learning languages, traveling, trying to play guitar, running, hiking, cycling, yoga, dancing, painting disturbing things with bright colors, meeting random strangers, experiencing artistic creations of many kinds.

Music, Movies & Books

Movies: Herzog, Lynch, Jeunet, Greenaway, Bergman, Pasolini, Tarkovsky, Kusturica
Music: Currently on an electro/synth-pop kick.
Books: I most recently read "Born to Run" by Chris McDougall, as inspiration while training for my first half marathon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning pretty much anything. I know quite a bit about philosophy, and like to hear other people's thoughts on the perennial problems. I also enjoy cooking, especially sharing tricks with other people. My room is filled with instruments. I can teach you how to fire up a hookah and blow smoke rings!

Countries I've Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, United States, Uruguay

Countries I've Lived In

Canada, United Kingdom, United States
