About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To work to help protect rainforest biodiversity through sustainable development and to achieve justice for indigenous peoples. Also, to explore the world & enjoy life on all levels along the way.

ABOUT ME

Positive, non-dualist and creative outlook and approach to life. Deeply indigenous sense of connection to nature and the planet.

Gets irritable and miserable if kept away from wilderness and wild forests for too long but a mild and kind temperament overall (jaja). Also a nerd.

PHILOSOPHY

"What does not benefit the hive does not benefit the bee either" - Marcus Aurelius

“Trust me, it's paradise. This is where the hungry come to feed. For mine is a generation that circles the globe and searches for something we haven't tried before. So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it.”

― Alex Garland

“If you don't know history, then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree. ” ― Michael Crichton

Interests

Wild Forests: biodiversity, ecology, peoples, conservation, canopy biology, photography, exploration (you get the idea).

Hill/Mountain Running, reading, creative writing, ambient music, meditation, surrealist humour youtube videos, jej.

Music, Movies & Books

Books and video games would be my favourite mediums.

Music: Tycho, Shihad, Moby, Air, Bonobo. A wide range from many different genres.

Books: 'The Beach' by Alex Garland, 'Travels' by Michael Crichton, 'The Hobbit' by JRR Tolkien, 'A Land of Ghosts' by David G. Campbell. All Calvin and Hobbes books!

Games: Legend of Zelda series, Half Life 2, others too nerdy for me to mention without feeling embarassed :P

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Met and touched the back of a wild Little Spotted Kiwi on Long Island in the Marlborough sounds in 2005.

Also, tyre-inner tubing down a tributary of the Amazon in Ecuador and fearing for my life in an accident on perilous rapids and experiencing a crazy subsequent terrestrial jungle detour characterized by random appearances of snakes and a barefoot climb round the side of a 50 metre high cliff (a good adventure story though...)
