Any adventure will do...
I'm unconventional and don't really feel, look or act my age. I'm instinctual and make most of my decisions based on gut feeling. I also love the feeling of smiling and laughing, and I live by my Fathers edict - "There's no such thing as can't!".
BTW: People usually call me 'E' ;-)
I live for adventures. An adventure to me can be a friend ringing me at 1am to see if I want to go get an icecream or it can be running away from a dodgey architect stalker in the middle of a foreign country (true story).
Maybe I've got the attention span of a lamp post but I just can't get enough of life and its random twists and turns.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I heard about CS on the radio and had signed up before the programme finished. I know how the cost of accommodation can put you off from even starting the trip - I also know that staying in paid accommodation limits the 'real' factor of your experience by at least 97%.
I've had such profound and meaningful CS experiences that any place I live is always set up for Surfers (ie: a space in the cupboards and fridge, place to hang your towel etc).
Possibly the tripiest CS experience was with one of my first CS couples from the States. It turned out I knew one of the people Tyler used to work with 20-30 years ago and was trying to track down and within a week they had met up with him!
Watching films. Sunday drives. Road trips. Playing pool.
I don't drink or go out much but my home is set up for fun times so I don't need to ;-)
I completed the 88 Temples of Shikoku pilgrimage in Japan in 2006 and I've had itchy feet ever since (www.gaijinhenro.com).
Lately I've been feeling driven to store my few possessions and go walk about.
Music, Movies, and Books
My genre of preference is the one that describes She, Me and You and Everyone We Know etc
I love a decent belly laugh, suspenseful action/drama and grittiness. My current faves are Banshee and Girls and I'm really looking forward to seeing She.
As for music? I like every genre as long as there are strong voices, acoustic anything, meaningful lyrics (relative - I know) or harmonising.
Rudimental, Alice Russell, Zero 7, Jupiter, Otto Knows, Empire of the Sun...I could go on...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A million things. I'm constantly amazed and moved by human nature.
At one job, one of our Carers relayed this story... She had just started with a new elderly Client a few weeks ago. This Client was a hoarder and hadn't had a bath or shower in years because her bath was full of junk.
The Carer managed to clear out 8 rubbish bags of stuff the first time she went to her house then a few days later, she bought a bunch of bath treats and some chocolates, ran a bath and lined the chocs all around it. The Client not only got into the bath, she stayed there for 4 hours, blowing bubbles, diving under the water and having a whale of a time. When she got out, she tearfully told the Carer that no-one had ever done that for her before.
