Sobre Mim

CURRENT MISSION

See the world from the cabin of a sailboat!!! Well, the coasts anyway... ;-)

ABOUT ME

WELL... I love to do things that are fun! This includes hiking, sailing (of course), hanging out with interesting people, drinking, singing, laying on the beach and watching the stars... It DOES NOT include watching TV, or pop culture stuff. I'm willfully ignorant of all that stuff. I love to read, but I hardly have time for it, and all I get to read are technical manuals... But all that's about to change! Change is good! It's the only constant...

PHILOSOPHY

It all comes down to choices. Every moment you're making a choice, and these choices define who you are. Do you have the strength to make who you want to be a reality through your choices? It's easy to say what you want, or who you think you are, but another entirely to have that reflected in every choice you make, action or inaction. I live my life according to no single philosophy, but I guess the closest one would be the Tao. Everything there is in your life is the result of a choice, and I don't mean the circumstantial or mundane, I mean who YOU are as a person, the meaning you derive from the events that occur every moment of every day. The Tao gives us a way to choose, a framework for looking at things and asking, what choice do I want to make here? Because you HAVE to make a choice, so you might as well make the choice that's YOU, what YOU want to be...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I'll start off participating by staying with some cool people. Then, once I get my boat, I'd like to offer a REALLY interesting experience to anyone that wants to come aboard and surf one of the bunks. And by interesting, I mean just different, since sleeping aboard a boat is an experience unlike any other...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, yet!

Interesses

Sailing, obviously, hiking, reading, learning new things, remembering old things, talking to my friends, going out for drinks, writing, watching the stars, listening to everything going on around me, building things, working on the computer (yes, I'm a programmer, even though I don't want to do that anymore). Learning to play the guitar and piano, and remembering how to play the violin. Most of all, having really good discussions that challenge things I think I know, and then finding out I don't know ANYTHING at all... ;-)

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

Just one? Jeez... Amazing to other people, or amazing to me? I'll choose the latter. I guess the most amazing thing I've done so far was the first time I went sailing, and felt the water rolling beneath me... It was a wonderful experience, and one I want to keep repeating. I've fallen asleep in the heather in Scotland, run in the rain on Block Island, stumbled home late from the bar in Brugge... I dunno, those are all wonderful times in my life that I could never really communicate, not in this text box, but they're an indelible part of who I am...

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

Well, I'm really good with computers. That sorta happens when you work with them for years. But i also love sailing, and building things, or just doin' stuff. I'm really interested in it ALL, there's nothing i wouldn't want to learn. Right NOW, I'm learning the guitar and everything I need to be a liveaboard, but I love to learn, and I love to teach whatever I know too!
