My journey... time to explore and make friends
Having entered what I call the second phase of my life, I am stepping out of my comfort zone in many ways to enrich mine and other people's experiences.
Planning to re-enter college this fall to complete my degree. Main interests: physics, art history.
I started a physical fitness program a couple of years ago and have already learned and achieved more than I initially expected! I broke my toe last year and it did not heal properly which has reduced my running and some yoga.
I gave up a 9-5 office job to start my own housekeeping service which I absolutely love. I enjoy taking care and organizing my people's living spaces. I enjoy listening to talk radio or books on tape (fiction and non-fiction) while I work. I love knowing my people's lives are more comfortable having me to take care of their homes.
I am shy in groups and sometimes upon initially meeting people, but I soon warm up and am quite talkative and friendly.
I love junking... that is to say going to estate sales, thrift shops, antique stores and yard sales. I like finding new uses for old things. I like to collect things... odd things like rubber ducks, dragons, gargolyes, antique hankies, rocks, and tiny pig figurines.
I lived in Baltimore, Maryland; Monrovia, California; West Virginia, North Carolina and now Lynchburg, Virginia.
Wow, would I love to write something deep and profound here but everything I think of has already been said.
I guess the best I can do for now is to say:
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hoping to participate in travel in the near future. My goals are: Washington, DC (Smithsonian)COMPLETED; Savannah, GA; UK; New Zealand and Italy (TARGET: october 2011). I would like to take a retreat to the Lotus Shrine near Charlottesville, VA later this year.
Unfortunately my tiny home is filled with pets and is not large enough to share at the moment. Actually my small living room is basically my work out room... I don't even own a couch! I am thinking about making that a goal for the near future though so I can more fully enjoy the CS experience by hosting! My guests would however have to be tolerant of my dogs and not be afraid of snakes.
Visited Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, and Baltimore, MD. Planning on Richmond, VA for Picasso exhibit.
Physical fitness/weight training
Reading: Thrillers, horror (clive barker, stephen king), fantasy (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter) and self-improvement
ANIMALS: I am permanently hosting three dogs (a min pin, a chihuahua and a three-legged, three lb rat terrier), one six foot Brazilian Rainbow Boa and a few assorted rats. My dream is to retire and start an animal rescue.
Gardening: Flowers and herbs mostly. I am not very good at it - yet. I remember my grandmother could grow ANYTHING and make it look beautiful. I keep working at it...
I am a volunteer at the local library.
I have also recently partnered with Cleaning for a Reason offering free house cleaning service for women undergoing cancer treatment.

Teach, Learn, Share
I know a little bit about a lot of things as I have working in several different careers including: being an automotive service adviser, chiropractic assistant, several non-profit (arts & economic development) organizations, I was a makeup artist in California, part owner of a tile repair business, computer programmer and office manager... I will however share what I do have. I can and will share my housekeeping talents though!
