About Me

~See as much of the world & its people--on a budget~

I'm a student at the University of Texas at Austin; I will get my degree in May 2009 in Middle Eastern Studies with a minor in Arabic. I've been to Jordan, Egypt, Amsterdam, & Israel/Palestine. I love languages, cooking, yoga, running, drinking hot tea, music, watching movies, TRAVELING, learning more about the Middle East and other parts of the world. I love to eat, I talk a lot, excited to meet new people with open minds and lots of life experience. I'm totally random and independent. I'm pretty down-to-earth and laid back, except i do have a detailed planner with me at all times?? I think my character is a bit of an oxymoron, and my friends say they never get board of me--hope that's a good thing haha =] I work hard, I would like to sleep more, i've been living and supporting myself alone since age 17.. :D I really want world peace!! For now, I will settle for peace for one's self :) I may do the Peace Corps after graduation to pay off my student loans :P Then grad school at AUC in Egypt. I just want to be happy and see others happy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new and eager. With time, I'll have a better couch and I would love to be able to stay on other couches as long and often as possible...I hope that being apart of something so great with help me find something more in life...

I've been a nomad my whole life.. I've never lived in any dwelling for more than 1 year consecutively. I'm use to moving and adapting to change. When I was abroad I lived with about 4 different families when I was in Jordan studying. I felt like people were very generous and seemed to want me around all the time. I've never felt more welcomed than in my traveling housing experiences have made me feel! I want more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the pyramids of Giza in Egypt, Mont. Nebo in Jordan where Moses is said to have seen the burning bush, i've went horseback ridding at the pyramids, for 2 hours in the morning, i've seen some of the oldest synagogues, churches, and mosques in the world, and prayed in them. I've swam in the red sea and been to the dead sea. i met a Bedouin woman in Jordan who helped me and then GAVE ME GIFTS!! she let me use her restroom and I made her humble home a mess with my feet, and she gave me fresh goat milk form her goats and fresh picked thyme (zaater) straight from her garden. the milk was too sour for me, but i took a big gulp right in front of her to show my thanks, and took the rest with me. i'll never forget that day!!

Teach, Learn, Share

don't let language barriers keep you from communicating. i want to improve my language skills and give people an opportunity to ask questions they think are dumb, rude, or whatever...ask anything you may wonder about or want to know...i hope i have an answer...
