•A colourfull cocktail; half Greek, Half Dutch and as every living creature a complex, yet simple being.
•Deeply in love with the world and every day enchanted when it shows it divine treasures to me.
•My home is all around the world.
•Living a rather nomadic life for quite a while now.
•Since 2006, I'm traveling at least 8 months a year, lately almost constantly.
•Annually I visit 12- 15 various countries and till death will part me from this amazing 3rd rock from the sun, i'll do my best to visit at least 2 new countries a year.
The world is too beautiful to walk in circles so I'm exploring new places and get to know new people on a daily basis. This is a rather restless pursuit.
In order to ground more, I tend to spend longer in inspiring places for longer.
Discover the depth of new places, explore its treasures, breathe in and make friends. to love with all my being. to excel in happiness. ..and then to let go again. and rebuild. creating new realities. transformation of the mind.
Im visiting a great variety of countries every year (between 8-12) and have made myself the promise that every year I will add at least 2 new countries to my list, until death will do me part from this world.
Life is a divine chaos, embrace it and enjoy the ride!
Life enchants and amazes me, I have a sort of childlike curiosity in me and I'm gulping in every possible experience, learning my lessons as good and bad as I can.
I live my life to the fullest, intense, painful, joyful, with high highs, low lows and experiences which blow my mind.
Im not into dogma or any isms, Rules and routines are always to be broken, but i do tend to live by some.
The Tantric way of life fits me most; don't strive for goals, but rather let the journey be the goal, be in the present and treat the other the way you wish to be treated, don't necessarily avoid situations, but experience them to the full depths and explore whatever it may bring..
*Life is what you make it- its as simple as that.
*live in the here and now,
I am a free spirit and do my best to stay out of the system, if you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space.
Pushing borders of my own mind is everchanging and I am curious where ever my neverending journey on this beautiful world will bring me next.
Keeping me indoors is asking for trouble, I'm a adrinalinejunkie!
As every human being, I'm full of contrasts. Everything is changing and evolving. So am I, the person i was yesterday i might not be today and whom i am today, i might not be tomorrow.
As a colourful camelion i adapt myself to my surroundings and will look for a profound function that will fit me into it.
My working life is full of contrast as well; i like riding my bike trough the rush of the traffic in big cities as a bikemessenger, work at crazy parties back in Am*dam and love to guide groups of people through the mountains surrounded by nature.
I can not sit still and my lifestyle is a mirror of my restless personality, Sinds 2006 every year i spend a total of about 3 months in Holland, 1 or 2 months in Crete and travel 7 to 8 months in which i spend most of the time in nature ;)'
As you might wonder how i can travel so much, i work as a international MOUNTAINLEADER and tourleader, my core business is leading and guiding hiking, trekking, snowshoe hiking, and cycling expeditions all over the world.
Where i guide small groups through the beauty of nature.
Hikingtrips, cyclingtours, trekking, backpacking, snowshoehiking, camel/ desertsafari's sailing on the Nile etc.etc.
For some pics of me at work...i have an album om FB, called "just another day at the office" ;)
The other 3 months a year (of wich is the biggest part;winter)i work and live in the Netherlands, and then i spend most time in Amsterdam. In those periods because i don't wanna sit still i have various jobs during the same time.
Usally i work as a BIKEMESSENGER
(in case you don't know what a bikemessenger does..)
I'm picking up and deliver packages through every corner of the town, not as a mail man, but @ high speed, i make a fat 120 kms a day with the speed of Tour the France, Kamikazi style through traffic) http://www.infinity-express.nl/ ...in winter, in those weather conditions, snow, rain, ice -8C , whatever the elements throw at me.. yesyes arround 600 kms a week every week wile i'm in Holland:
(this is the kind of stuf we messengers do for fun.-in order to match our skills.. Alleycats!! ) (just google it ;)
To keep up with the culture and latest gigs and dj's, bands and music performances i work in one of Hollands legendary, oldest and most varied multi discipline music and performance venues, called the"Melkweg"
(Milkyway, at the Leidseplein) I work there behind the bar as bartender. (goodthing for you is that often i can arrange a place for my friends on the guestlist! :)
/>And if i spend a few weeks during summerseason in Amsterdam i have my own BIKETAXI! :)
I also work at a indoor climbing gym.
As i am a lot in isolated beautiful nature throughout the year, the times i will spend in the cities will be filled with encountering the things i missed elsewhere, so lots of art, galeries, museums, spirutal meetings, concerts, parties and meeting old and making new friends will be my main activeties.
...all that does not mean that you'll get a bouncingball in your house that will jump arround every corner of the room, i have a very relaxed and ambient side too, that one usually shows up when i sleep- haha.
No for real, it's all about balance.
[.....That is more or less how i would label myself, -just read the experences of other cssers in order to read how they experience me,but then again we are reflecting eachother, so i might be a differend mirror wilst be with one than with another, and having that said.
As we all are since our birth on a never-ending journey with one big quest. "who am I and why am I here?" I don't know yet how to describe myself, yet curious, honoust, passionate, free and open minded and open heartheddoes fit in;)
~If you take away your labels, i.e. your name, gender, nationality, the religion you follow, the government party you vote for, any family titles you have and your job description, what is left? When you die at the end of this life you will have to let go of everything. Can you psychologically let go of everything whilst you are still alive?
Letting go of the false you (the false ego)does not mean you give up your life and become monastic.
It means to let go of the attachments to all your labels, your desires, your striving, your envy, etc., and see yourself as you really are.
Look at your life as it truly is and not how you want it to be.
When you are not being all these things, who exactly are you?
[-I don't have a answer to that yet, but i challenge you to help me find out!...~]
All this Blabla and you still don't have a clue.
-Good I'd rather stay a mystery and it's up to you to find the key and open the treasurechest.
...But be aware that you might open Pandora's box ;)'
RELAX, NOTHING IS UNDER CONTROL!
Silence is the language of god,all else is poor translation.
The most beautiful thing in the world, of course, is the world itself....
"The longest journey you will make in your life is from your head to your heart.
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about Learning to Dance in the Rain."
Don't worry about what others think, ...Most people don't use their brain very often.
Better to be slapped with the truth, than kissed with a lie
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.
If you are going to doubt something, doubt your limits
Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them.
don't dream your life, live your dream!
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.
What we see mainly depends on what we look for.
Never explain yourself to any one.
Because the person who likes you doesnt need it.
And the person who dislikes you wont believe it.
Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving
A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.
You can't make the same mistake twice. The second time you make it it's no longer a mistake, it's a choice( i never make the same mistake twice, but rather 5 or 6 times, you know, just to be sure ;)
Live in the here and now!(-if not now when? all we have is here and now)
"Nothing is more permanent than the temporary" /The only thing that is constant is change
Love is the soul's light, the taste of morning,no me, no we, no claim of being.
Love isnt complicated. People are
"Not all those who wander are lost."
If a student's eyes are open, teachers will appear everywhere.
..the greatest risk in live is to risk nothing,, the person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing,is nothing and becomes nothing..
The things you own end up owning you.
You are born as a free spirit on this planet and you should never let any government or institution enslave you and let you tell how to live your life, be Free!
I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be.
âSome of us think holding on makes us stong, bust sometimes it is letting go..
A person should not believe in an 'ism', he should believe in himself
Its not the length of life, but the depth of life.
"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched ...but are felt in the heart".
" Nothing happens without a reason, but the difficult part is that life can only be understood backwards but you have to live it forward"
"A man may be so much of everything that he is nothing of anything".
"Everybody comes from the same source. If you hate another human being, you're hating part of yourself".
"When you are making love don't control.
Go into uncontrol, go into chaos.
It will be fearful, frightening, because it will be a kind of death.
And the mind will say "Control!" And the mind will say, "Jump in and keep control, otherwise you will be lost in the abyss of it."
Don't listen to the mind, get lost.
Abandon yourself utterly and without any technique you will come to see a timeless experience.
There will be no two in it: oneness.
A consciousness will be there, a lucid passive consciousness will be there, you will know what is happening because you will be fully aware.
But you will not be there; awareness will be there.
Love all, trust a few, do harm to none
I am yours. Don't give myself back to me.
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
~~I Host Surfers, I Surf Hosts, We Enjoy~~
Every now and then i'll throw an (sometimes organized) but usually impulsive get together, dinner-party or big ass party. for example Somicha's and mine Big Bad Ass B-Day Bash, where we brought together 250 shiny happy people :)
Or a potluck @ casa di Mixalis, while in Kathmandu i had them often..
I've shared pillowfights, (even a massive one at Dam Squaire with 2000pple) big dinners, small dinners, bbq;s, (LOTS of)icecreams, cappucino, fredo, frape, hot chocolate, tea (i am a true tea lover or as other would call me tea-freak and have loads of tea), beer, wine, weird local drinks, hikes, mountainhikes, mountainclimbing, bikerides even tried to teach someone how to ride a bike:), frisbee, tablesoccer, waterpipe, sisha, Nargileh, Viszipipa, camping, swimming, watching stars, dancing in the rain, wandering the streets during rain, sun, snow and hell i dont know what else with couchsurfers. and offcourse party, PARTY, afterparty!!
the Art of listening.
When listening to another person, don´t just listen with your mind, listen with your whole body. Feel the energy field of your innerbody as you listen. That takes attention away from thinking and creates a still space that enables you to truly listen without the mind interfacing .
You are giving the other person space- space to be. It is the most precious gift you can give. Most people don´t know how to listen because the major part of their attention is taken up by thinking. They pay more attention to that than to what the other person is saying, and none at all to what really matters: the Being of the other person underneath the words and the mind. Of course, you cannot feel someone else´s except through your own. This is the beginning of the realization of oneness, which is Love. At the deepest level of Being you are one with all that is.
...***From a proud history to a promising future***
...Pre- CS experiences
My very first getting-hosted-by-total-strangers-experience i was 17.I was hiking on a trip in the mountains in Crete -alone- When i passed a house in a village i was looking at some flowers in a garden, a old lady came outdoors and told me to come drink some coffee, the coffee soon became spirits, than diner and finally when it was already dark and too late to continue walking, they asked me to sleep over.Total strangers impulsivly taking care of me like i was their grandson!! ;)The Greek word for hospitality is FILOXENIA.
The Greek word "xenos" means stranger, but also guest!("Filos" means friend)
*****After that many times i had experienced simular situations on the countryside in Greece, during my trips i also find the most honourable people, both in the countryside and in big cities, even in NYC i crashed @ many strangers houses, but all situations started spontaniously, i've never seen or spoke with those people before -also not online. It's all about respect, trust and good vibes.
****For my part hosting people, before i heared about the couchsurfsite, i had already had several stranger with wich i had a good vibe taken home, after parties etc. and as you can read above same has happened to me. But now i can participate on this great project! ***it works vice versa,
***The CS era :)
Now since i'm introduced into CS it's the best thing i could ever wish for! I can actually "arrange the situations beforehand"Wile i'm traveling i experience a lot homes away from home;) it feels good to be surrounded by people with the same interests, curiosity to other cultures and where i have the space to be.Share good feelings, take a peek in the daily life of the locals, (learn how to make local dishes yumyum) have fun etcetc..
***BRING THE WORLD TOGETHER!!***
O n t h e S U R F I N G............
I am travelling arround 6 months a year for my work (as a mountain guide) during that period I'm responsible for the well-being of the people I'm taking up in the mountains and often as during a trekking for example- I sleep in a different hotel, pension mountain hut or tent or even just sleeping bag in the desert every night, all those situations are with a "professional touch",
Between the working-trips i often travel alone/for myself (total of at least 2 months a year (but often up to 5 months)
Than it is very nice to feel really at home between 'normal' local people that have the "friend connection and touch".
Relax, get down to no stress and sharing on a friends level.
--->I do understand that it can be intense for people t take a total stranger you've never met before into your own house, your temple,(since you never know what kind of energy this person sends out and what kind of "luggage he or she will bring) i understand and respect the boundaries and private space a person needs to "be" it's all about sharing, respect and balance.
I guess it is the same curiosity that makes the surfer come to select his host as it is for the host to open his house to the surfer.
I'm happy that i can cook for and with my hosts and have a relaxing period without too much obligations;)I love to get arround everywhere i go and offcourse the best way is to do so guided or with tips of a local that knows where to go.
Everyone's life is a book full of stories, i'm delighted that i can have the privilige to read some lines or even pages of the people where i can stay @.
And from my part i hope that we can learn a lot from eachother too, i will give every person the chance to take a pen and write some lines or even stories in my book of life.
***o n t h e H O S T I N G
*Read all about it in the couch info part.*
About the rest of my experiences just read my references-> there are plenty, and all of them are positive!:P
you can find pictures about it in the "new made friends on the road album"
I guess i've been hosting over 100, or 120 persons by now.(since i have plenty of space most of the time i'm hosting groups of three to six people and just one has an CS account, that's why i dont have over 100 cs host references yet, anyway all of them were fun!
I guess surfed arround 40 or so.
It is great to check out the profiles of people i've met before, see how their traveling and adventures continued and they follow their dreams, very inspiring and heartwarming.

Does the meaning of life seem to elude you and can no-one answer this vital question which has no words? If you feel this, then my friend you have the essential catalyst for a breakthrough!
This constant essence of restlessness is the very thing which will catapult you into questioning the absolute basis of your life. There is only one true question that burns inside of you and there is only one answer, and you will need to explore both in depth in order for you to come into your own inner core, realize the truth and know exactly who you are.
In general i'm very interested in the social dynamics of people, life with all its aspects, on a spiritual level and have an childish curiosity to many things, there are only few things i'll easily take for granted, else i'd wanna know the truth, whatever that might be.
Books, websites and interesting movies and documentaries can help you along your path. If you share that task we're both on the same quest, i hope we can help eachother along the way.

Get to know yourself for who you are, because the key to freedom is selfknowledge. It begins from the moment you are born. Do not let the world fill you up with its garbage and its expectations of you. The inner revolution does not cause you to implode; it makes you explode from the inside out. Nobody can give it to you, you have to find it for yourself, and selfknowledge is what will set you free. In other words;
..."Knowing yourself is the beginning of all knowledge and the end of most illusions"...
Wisdom is knowing i know nothing, Love is knowing i am everything.

My greatest knowledge is the understanding that I know nothing.
Crash and learn, I already learned how to blow a bubble with chewinggum, now i still need to learn how to whistle on my fingers.
I can teach you whatever i know and share whatever i have.
Love is not a destination nor is there a path to reach it. It is something that breathes, moves and lives beyond the confines of human thinking. It has no levels, no systems and no labels and if you watch yourself with constant awareness, it may just breathe its bounty of treasure upon you, changing you for eternity.
You cannot reach love with your mind, because it is the unknown and your mind is only a machine built on your memories, your past and your beliefs. Love has none of these things in it. It is beyond the known. When you take away all what is not love, you are left with only love…
As for now ...Since i'm introduced into the beauty of the underwater world, i'm eager to continue my PADI journey and become Divemaster, and learn Thai massage.
As a way of grounding more, i'm eager to learn more about both meditation and Yoga, as i am always on the road, it is rather difficult to participate in classes, so i'm looking forward to find a spot where i can settle and ground more.
Somewhere in my photo's you can find some pics of my singingbowls, in case You're lucky enough i'll carry them with me or You come and visit me , I can give You a singingbowl meditation or healing. It's a enchanting experience.
