About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hard mission: Finding a flat for 2 people in Frankfurt Main; besides finishing my studies and work out life in a new town

ABOUT ME

Ok, me. Student of English and Theology. Right now still living in beautiful Leipzig, but I have to give that up for my studying. University change because... I can't remember. Maybe to see something new. I am moving to Frankfurt next month. Somehow looking forward to it - somehow not. Can anyone tell me whether this town has character? I don't know. Ok, more about me. I am 25, and like most people do I like hanging around with other people, at home, in cafés, in the park, in the icecream shop, at the lake (are there nice lakes in Frankfurt?). I very much enjoy reading, and I think I do it excessively. I love cooking, as a result I also like eating. Sports: Yoga, Swimming, whatever's on the schedule and comes to my mind. A future hobby of mine will be climbing because I am planning a summer holiday in the Alps and am going to enter into an Alpine club. So climbing will be cheaper. I suppose I will be climbing a lot this year. I like it, did it once or twice and it's my best friend's hobby. I also watch a lot of movies, but there are very few that I really like. Benny and Joon is one of them. I recently saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall. That was fun.

PHILOSOPHY

What do you gain of being successful? That's a serious question. Anyone know the answer? I wish there would be less craving for power, that's the flaw that humanity lives with. I do not want to say that I don't want to be in control sometimes, but not when it comes to other people's lives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't really participated a lot until now... There have been a lot of couchsurfers in our flat and as soon as I will have a place to live I think I will have a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a great experience as a surfer in Vienna and in Bratislava. While one was a superb flat which we had for our own, the other was rather less tidy but the host was just a cool and very amiable guy. We had a lot of couchsurfers in our flat, and I think I just liked them all. As it is, sometimes we spend time together, sometimes there was not that much time and we just talked for one evening or something. But you know what that's like. Generally I had very good experiences I think.

Interests

Books, people, different sorts of coffee, thinking, history, icecream, not so much paintings (just when I really like one), my subjects at university (English and Theology), languages (both dead and alive languages), my boyfriend (He should be sharing the first place with my best friend, but people would think: hey, she likes her boyfriend -how special! ...), news, understanding how everything works in this world, psychology, basically a lot of things.

Music, Movies, and Books

At the moment listening to: Muse, Resistance.

Reading at the Moment: Mr. Pip by James Lloyd (very good!) and secondary literature about Gayatry Spivak's work and thinking (hard to grasp).

Movie I watched last: Gnomeo and Juliet (I haven't yet watched the end, so I don't know how good it is. But it is much fun from the beginning).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent one year in Ireland. One year of happy and friendly people and attitudes. Carefree. Organised my best friends wedding. This day was one of the best in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Accept who and what you are. I am the rather quiet kind of person in the beginning. Good that I know it, so I do not feel any pressure when I do not occupy 50% of the speaking part in a first conversation. I can relax and save my words for the second and third. Then I usually talk a lot.

Oh, one of my newest expereinces is reading post-colonial theory. You have to do this, it is so important. Look up the word subaltern, find out what it is.
