About Me

maybe it's to show ourselves that we're as interested in couchsurfing as couchsitting...i mean, we are getting middle aged...

we're here, in small town Corvallis, and we love it. After living in so many various places throughout our adult lives, we both agree that we have found and embrace-finally-a place to call home.

Just show up, you can always leave.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We have only hosted to date, and have had only wonderful experiences with each and every guest. It's a process that I have really learned to trust. At times I think 'I don't want to vacuum, I don't want to have people here', then I get through it, accept the invitation and am grateful that I do. My life is richer for the people that walk through that door.

We both sing in 2 choral groups which is a balancing act with schedules during concert season. But we love it. Virginia is work focused, putting in amazing amount of energy into her research. Her work takes us around the world and we are able to visit places we never would have gone to on our own. As an artist, Lauren teaches, puts in studio time and volunteers for local arts organizations. She also enjoys running and keeps motivated by signing up for a few half marathons each year. We love hiking the extensive trail system around our area as much as we love good wine, beer, and coffee.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One that comes to mind is telemark skiing down a glacier in Alaska during a 5 day winter camping trip that I took with a friend years ago. After skiing for 2 days to get there, we woke to 5" of fresh snow on packed ice. Not a cloud in the sky. We climbed to the top of Susitna Glacier and skiied the most perfect run I have ever had- then, and since.
