To get in touch with as many crazy people as possible !
I was born and raised in Rome, a city I love and hate at the same time. After university I was crazy enough to start a PhD and moved first to England and then to Germany, where I currently live.
I believe I am a talkative, outgoing person, mostly interested in sharing what I have and learn what I don't know yet. I am an avid listener, I love stories of people that travel through the world, that have that little spark in their eyes.
I love music, science, art and history and I cannot stop talking about global politics and all that stuff ... actually, to be honest, if you choose to host me you will have to figure out how to let me shout up :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly hosting and sharing what I know about food, the city I live in and my other passions. I usually attend monthly meetings and try to participate in international CS activities.
Sharing cultures, feeling, thoughts and experiences... and obviously food ! Cooking is one of my greatest passions, so if you pass by my home give me a ring and try some dishes for yourself :)
I also enjoy photography, and if you are interested here you can find something : http://flickr.com/photos/b_line
And yep, I do like my job when things works out ... if they works out ! Science is so unpredictable :) If you are interested in my scientific activities, you can have a look at my Uni webpage :
it is a work in (slow) progress.
Music, Movies, and Books
Rock progressive, jazz, fusion, electronic, classical ... almost every genres ! I love classics like Pink Floyd, The Doors, Queen, ELP, Rush, YEs and more "modern" things like Radiohead, Red hot chili peppers, Jamiroquai, Dream Theater, Coldplay, White stripes and so on. I literally melt when I listen to "A kind of blue" by Miles Davis or Gilmour's guitar solo in "Comfortably numb" !
I've played and studied electric bass for 7 years, but now I'm taking a pause from music. Actually I would like to learn some classical piano and play Rachmaninov eh eh ... maybe it would take more then "some" lessons :)
A couple of years ago I fell in love with tango, first of all listening to Astor Piazzolla and Aires Tango ( an italian band playing a fusion of tango and jazz ), so I've taken some tango dance lesson for almost one year.
My favourite book ever, perhaps because the most enigmatic and innovative, is Joyce's Ulysses. Recently I've loved "Oceano Mare" by Baricco and enjoyed " The man in the High Castle" by P.K.Dick. A great surprise was one of Tiziano Terzani's books I've received for my birthday ! I literally fell in love with it and since then I've started to read all the other books.
As for the Movies, Big Fish is one of my favorite, Full Metal jacket, Clockwork Orange, the legend of 1900, The Lord of The rings, Star Wars, The Prestige, La finestra di Fronte, Chocolat... But there are many others !!
Recently I cannot stop watching : How I met your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones, Spartacus, The IT Crowd.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A random party in Buenos Aires, getting drunk in a English college
(almost all the semester long :s ), the sunrise in Salento while dancing Taranta, roaming through the bars in Chicago with Melissa :)

I can teach you how to cook a proper Carbonara or any other dish you always wondered about... well, almost any other :) In case you are mad enough, I can share with you some of my thoughts about Physics, Religion, Philosophy and so on ... and if you get bored I can teach you all the bad words and sign language I know in Italian :D
