About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from Russia, but grew up in America, so I'm a mixture of both I suppose.
I lived in five countries before I was two, and maybe that's why I've always wanted to live in as many places as I can while still really getting to know them... I try to be as little of a tourist as I can when I travel.
I studied in France for half a year last year, and loved it of course.
I'm officially an economics students at harvard, but since I usually don't like my econ classes, I've mostly just taken lots of languages and some visual arts classes...not quite sure why they're letting me graduate with an econ degree : )
I eventually want to run my own international nonprofit -- either doing microfinance or urban planning and development in developing countries. i still have a long time before then, though, so this is just an idealist sort of dream... : )
I am very very interested in people and the way they think about things, which usually means that i can get along with pretty much anyone.
I am fascinated by things people make themselves!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed with some very very different people a few times before and have loved it every time (although I've never actually had a profile on here before, as you can probably tell).
Also, this isn't my story but I always remember it when people say they're afraid of staying with people they don't know. My friend once went to Brussels to meet up with a guy she had met a couple years before. Even though she had a boyfriend, the guy booked them one room with one bed at a hotel and was generally horrible to her. She got through one night and then ran to internet cafe and frantically emailed people from couchsurfing, asking for help. A wonderful guy took her that same day, showed her around, and she ended up having an amazing time. So you never know who will be strange and who will be awesome I guess : )
I haven't been able to host ever before, because I've lived in university dorms which for one are the size of most normal closets and also of course aren't very happy with people coming in and out : (
But starting September, I will be moving to a house with 5 of my close friends, and we absolutely want to host people and will make sure to have lots of couches and free room! Since I've couchsurfed with people before, I can't wait to return the favor : )
