Provide a taste of rural Canadian life to our visitors

ABOUT ME

We are both Engineers with a strong interest in practicing sustainable living. We have 2 children born 1998 and 2000. Our rural home is mostly powered by wind and solar energy and in season we grow a variety of food. There is a clean lake to swim in and various local trails to hike. Our locale is typical Southern Ontario forests with lots of beautiful clean lakes and wildlife. Nearby Kingston is a very old (by Canadian standards) city with various historic attraction from early 1800's. Without a car you could walk (or canoe) to the local village (3km), and we drive in and out of local kingston (26 km) at a variety of times, no fixed schedule.

We have just joined couch surfing in late 2008, so don't have any history yet!

We see travel and having visitors as a way to expand our and our children's lives (we just need a more carbon neutral way to do it!!).

PHILOSOPHY

Tread lightly, be optimistic, and contribute to solving our human problems. Trying to find a bad Belgian beer!!

We are travelling on and off with our family at the moment, but will offer a place to stay in 2009.

Música, películas y libros

We try to go to folk music festivals each year. Kids are devouring Harry Potter novels, wish there were more!

Algo increíble que he hecho

We lived and worked at a remote school in Lesotho for 5 months, that was an amazing experience! We have each travlled, Steve spent quite a bit of time doing energy projects in India, but we mostly have stayed closer to home since our kids entered school.
