Philosophy: Be curious & explore. Don't forget to make good food.
Also, I'm currently learning to photograph strangers. If you want to be apart of my photo series, I'd love to take your photo. You can check out my instagram if you like www.instagram.com/theuglyumbrella .
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like learning about other people, and hearing perspectives and experiences different from my own.
I am also happy to share what I can, when I can.
I glean pleasure from the arts, crafting, cooking, listening to audiobooks & podcasts, making ice cream, I like getting outside but I don't go hiking or camping nearly as much as I'd like, people interest me - I like to hear about different folks, biking is great and I'll talk photography any day to anyone.
I'll take recommendations on any of the above & definitely bring some music suggestions please!
Music, Movies, and Books
I usually prefer docs and non-fiction but love to be wooed into 'reading' *cough, couch listening to* a good fiction too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I really enjoyed experiencing the midnight sun up north as well as a brief glimpse of the northern lights. Also, I fell out of a plane once and am convinced I had a 5sec heart attack on the way down.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm renaming this section...
"Rachael's Personal Suggestions for Things to Do In & Around Kingston"
>> This calendar doesn't list all the events happening in Kingston but it does a pretty good job
>> Grab the free ferry from downtown, rent a bike on the island & explore a bit, go to Big Sandy Bay (the beach). Or if you have limited time, just take the ferry there and ride it back for a short but beautiful scenic ride.
>>An interesting place to learn about Kingston's history as the Prison Capital of Canada & *spoiler* there's a section on prisoner escapes!
The Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning
>>If you're into the arts this is a good place to visit, you can also get some locally sourced lunch here.
The Isabel Bader Centre
>>Right next door to the Tett, you might be able to catch a show too if that's your thing.
>>Right off the water and close to downtown you can rent bikes, SUP boards, Kayaks or Canoes.
