ABOUT ME

We`re two globetrotters living in Groningen, the Netherlands. In 2003 we`ve met and felt in love with eachother in...Uganda (as students to become primary schoolteacher we were in Uganda with a Dutch development organisation that supports schools in third world countries) You can understand, it was a beautiful and unforgettable travel experience, there in East-Africa. Afterwards, we decided to live together in Groningen. An exiting city with a lot of students and (thus) a diverse and attractive nightlife. Nowadays we prefer a more laidback but bourgoundian way of life; nice wine, nice food, good music, nice friends and good conversations. Besides this we like to sport; running and (indoor)-cycling. We also enjoy walking with our 3,5 year old dog named Gaia; without no doubt the sweetest dog that ever lived on planet Earth. Because we have some really nice friends that sometimes took over our caring for Gaia, we have been able to continue travelling to some nice places since 2003: India, Portugal, Malawi, Greece, Thailand, Laos and Marocco.
Our travelexperiences are very helpful and full of inspirations for our professions: Anneleen as a primary school teacher and Diederik as final year student of the researchmaster 'History of Cultural Identity' at the University of Groningen.
This year (2009) we hope to go on holiday to Italy (Tuscany, Umbria and Rome) and a guide a trip to Kenya.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In Africa and Asia we saw poor people in the material perspective at first sight, but looking closer, we experienced enormously rich people in giving friendship and hospitality. We hope to transfer this valuable lesson of life back to Holland and you.
