Hi, I’m Abbas. I work with films, mostly documentaries, and I run Souzian, a small film and media platform focused on bringing Iranian and regional stories to wider audiences. My work takes me to festivals and film markets, but I try not to travel only for work. I like meeting people, walking through cities, hearing local stories, and understanding a place beyond the usual tourist route. I first came to this world through photography and filmmaking. Over time, that path slowly moved into film distribution, journalism, and festival coverage. Cinema is still the center of it, but people are what make every trip meaningful for me. I enjoy quiet conversations, coffee, cooking together, long city walks, small cinemas, old streets, and the kind of simple moments that make you feel close to a place. For me, Couchsurfing is not just about finding a couch. It is about trust, kindness, and sharing a little part of daily life with someone you would not meet otherwise.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Because I love people. I’ve met some of the most inspiring minds just by sitting over tea or walking through a new city with a local. While I travel often for work, Couchsurfing is my way of turning work trips into warm, memorable human experiences.
Music, Movies, and Books
I have a deep love for stories, whether through music, books, or cinema. In books, I enjoy mythology, philosophy, and literature that bridges cultures. Some of my favorites include "The Divine Comedy, Shakespeare’s Sonnets, Goethe’s West–Eastern Divan, Why Nations Fail", and the poetry of classical Iranian masters like Hafez, Rumi, and Ferdowsi. When it comes to music, I listen to jazz, Persian traditional melodies, Arabic rhythms, and pop icons like Michael Jackson, Queen, and Shakira — whatever carries a soul. Favorite films? That’s a long list. But a few that moved me deeply: "Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears, Underground, The Godfather, The Green Mile, Seven Samurai, and Taste of Cherry by Kiarostami."
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I've helped filmmakers bring their documentaries from remote corners of the world to global screens — sometimes with almost no budget, just creativity, timing, and persistence. I believe every problem has a path; you just need to find or create it.
