ABOUT ME
I moved away from my home in the U.S.A. in 2010. It started out as a temporary thing, but then life happens you know? I'm now bouncing around the Nordic countries, finishing my master's degree in environmental law, and trying to figure out a way to make the world a better place.
I love sports, cultural exchange and good, dark beer.
PHILOSOPHY
"It doesn't matter where you've been, as long as it was deep, yeah." -The Cars
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I'm not traveling, I would love to host anyone who is in the area and show them around. I work long hours during the week, but I'll definitely be as accommodating as my schedule allows me to be. If nothing else, I'm almost always up for a drink or three.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I first became involved with the Knoxville couch surfing group in February, 2008 prior to backpacking in Europe for a month. At first, it was merely to meet some new people and find a place or two to stay while on my trip; I had no idea it would become such an important part of my life! My first "official" couch surfing experience was in Leeds, England. It was a great experience! (Mucho thanks, Andrew).
Since then, I've hosted folk from all around the U.S. and also Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Serbia, Spain, and Sweden. I've had a great time with most of my couchsurfers, and I can't wait for my next couchsurfing experience.
Also, I started my blog, 80couches.com, dedicated to my amazing couchsurfing stories. Check it out!

Music, Movies, and Books
I read a bunch of boring books...mostly social science stuff. My personal bible is Thomas Friedman's "The World is Flat." My all-time favorite novel is probably "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Johnathan Safran Foer.
As far as movies go, it's rare I find one that I don't like. Action, drama, suspense, comedy--love 'em all.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Whale watching off the coast of Argentina!
Teach, Learn, Share
Getting my master's in climate change law. I don't know if that makes me an optimist or a pessimist!
I also love science, in fact I very nearly became a geology major!
