Embarking on a 1 month Couchsurfing adventure in Madrid!

ABOUT ME

I enjoy travelling to remote and beautiful places all over the world. I love being in nature and wilderness and walking. I also enjoy exploring the cultural delights of cities and learning languages. I love being in the sun (but also in the snow!)

I started travelling 18 years ago, with 6 months as a volunteer English teacher in Tanzania and a solo hitch-hiking journey from Kenya to South Africa. I went back to Tanzania several times doing everything from learning Swahili in a Zanzibari family to researching and recording traditional Maasai music and herbal medicine.

After studying archaeology and anthropology at university in England I worked as a trainee field archaeologist in various digs across Europe and north west Africa. Many more wonderful adventures!

I moved to Spain 7 years ago and started to learn about permaculture gardening, yoga and alternative nutritional therapy, doing various wwoofing and other work exchanges and voluntary work in free hippie communities in Andalucia, and Rainbow gatherings around Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

4 years ago I came to Madrid, got involved with the Spanish 15M (Occupy) movement and ended up recording my first song and music video inspired by that movement, with many people involved ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cf87UvNUOgQ ) It was great fun and inspired me to start recording more of the songs I have written over the years fusing together all the experiences and cultures I have travelled through and spent time in.

In Madrid I worked as an English teacher again and started learning biodanza, contact dance improvisation, macrobiotic cuisine, tantra, meditation, traditional Spanish folk music and lots of other interesting stuff. This city never sleeps!

I walked the Camino de Santiago twice which was a simply amazing experience.

This winter I´m hoping to travel around South East Asia for 6 months just for a change...

I love meeting new people and hearing about their adventures. I think it is a wonderful creative imaginative and trusting way to travel. What could be better?

Every day is amazing, whether waking to the desert sunrise on a dig, climbing Kilimanjaro with school pupils, walking with the Maasai, playing music in front of the cathedral in Granada or partying at a melon festival in a Spanish village...
