About Me

Instagram: rezwanrazib999

Engineer by day. Kickboxer by night. Traveler by passion.

Spontaneous adventures without pre-planning are my game. I'm originally from Bangladesh. I've been living in the United States since August 2012. I've seen two sides of this world. Growing up, my parents were having immense economic struggle. In 1994, they couldn't give me money equivalent to 50 cents in those days for monthly school fee. But I never saw them unhappy when someone or some people would want to come to our place and stay for a while. That trait kind of rubbed off on me. On the other side, lack of money always hindered our family planning and my father was never into traveling. He sort of pushed us into being better than other peers at schools and build a life with enough money. Unfortunately, that was never my goal.

I was always fascinated by our world. As a kid, I would always have a map on the wall. I would sometimes spend my entire day looking at Atlas Geography and planning to go to different countries. Australia was my favorite. Then Switzerland. I thought I could never make it to America. So, my traveling dream would never have this country.

No sooner had I started reaching beyond my boundaries than the wider my eyes were becoming. I decided to come to America and find myself in the sea of this beautiful diversity. I found my newly flourished freedom and started leveraging it full-on. I rekindled my wish for traveling and made a promise to do a world tour. I've been to 49 states in the USA and have my car drive in all 48 contiguous states. Well, Uncle Sam is definitely happy!

So, here I am on Couchsurfing. I've been a member for a couple years but never had to use it that much since I have friends from Bangladesh in pretty much every state. Now I want to reach beyond my own circle and meet tons of adventurous people. If you need a place in or around Erie, PA or Buffalo, NY, you are always welcome regardless of where you are from or whatever kind of background you have. I know that karma will get back to me and I'll find some good hosts too when I'm traveling ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To give value, to get value, and to make new friends to have great time with!

I've made a determination to stay at Couchsurfing places during traveling. If I can't, I'll stay in my car or in the hostels with bunk beds.

Interests

I've been meditating since 2015. Have done three 10-day Vipassana courses that helped me tremendously. Yoga helps me when I need to destress myself. And kickboxing is my second passion. I used to be pretty good amateur photographer but I've kind of lost it. I still try but I'm not satisfied with my pictures.

I love multiculturalism. Growing up I could never relate to my own culture and rituals. That allowed me to explore other cultures, food, and so many different stuff. In the end, I have to say that I've grown respect for all cultures around this beautiful planet of ours.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Book - "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. I'm reading "Awaken the Giant Within" by Tony Robbins now and liking it infinitely.

Favorite Movies - A lot. I like Leonardo de Caprio and try to watch every movie that he is on. I'm also a huge fan of Tom Hanks.

Favorite Band - Linkin Park (RIP Chester Bennington). Their songs never get old to me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving (once)
Bungee jumping (thrice)
Half marathon (four times)
Paragliding (once)
10-day Vipassana meditation immersion (thrice)
Road trips (countless)
Took my car to all 48 states on the mainland USA

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm practicing meditation and mindfulness even though I'm very scatterminded sometimes. Would be great to share what I've learned and also to get other's perspectives.

Also, talks about photography, traveling ideas, saving money while traveling are always welcome. I've found a new interest in Tantra. Let's share thoughts if you know about this.

I'm very good at my native slangs. Over many years, I've taught people from all over the world the profanities mostly used in my language. Wanna learn?

Lately, I've been getting a few requests from so called copy-pasters who simply send the same generic request to everyone. I'll only respond to the people who have read and responded with one of the house rules mentioned in the request.

My house rules are:
1. No shoes on carpet
2. Close the toilet lid after using it
3. Close the shower curtain after taking a shower
4. Clean the dishes and the kitchen area after using
