Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never done couchsurfing but am eager to take it out for a spin.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like independent films that have a lot of dialogue and require thinking. Foreign films, particularly those from Germany and France, are favorites, e.g., "Au Revoir les Enfants" and "Das Leben der Anderen." My reading tends to gravitate toward non-fiction, particularly of 19th-20th century Europe, though I like Ian McEwan and Richard Ford for fiction. My muscial tastes are eclectic, but I have a fondness for anything by Bach.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to Europe thirty times, twice to China, and twice to South America. I also met with Justice Harry Blackmun in his chambers at the US Supreme Court for an hour on one occasion.

I really enjoy meeting people from other countries who can teach me about their languages and cultures.
