Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

regret nothing you do. do nothing you'll regret.

ABOUT ME

I try to listen to people and take in their views and outlooks. I enjoy being in thought.I love stories, and history - which is a never ending well of the such.I love religion and taking my own part in my country's identity struggle. When I get into something, it's always a deep dive.Other than that, I think it's safe to say that generally I'm a nice person.

PHILOSOPHY

Smile, be happy, Feel everything there is to feel and try to bring joy to the world around you, because anyone can make a difference.

hmmm... I wrote this four years ago. Today I still believe that anyone can make a difference, but I'll have to chew on this one for a little.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfed when I was travelling in 2006/2007, and have been hosting with Noam since the summer of 2008.I'm happy to thuroughly answer questions as long as a thurough answer doesn't involve a 3 page essay. When I'm note lazy, meetups are also fun.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was in India, my most memorable CS experiences (and some of my most memorable experiences of the country) weren't the 'classical' surfing ones, but rather meeting up with other travelers who are also on the site. Besides that, I couchsurfed at most of the places I've been to in North America, and it was wonderful.
Now that I'm in Jerusalem, I experience CS through hosting and through the occasional (weekly/monthly/depending on time) meetings. I certainly feel that my experiences of CS have changed and developed over time, but then again, so have I.

Intereses

This year (2011/12) I'm taking belly dancing classes, which are a weekly injection of balance and fun.I'm also taking Urdu classes at university, and thinking of going for my masters in Middle Eastern Studies next Oct.Other than that, I like to cook, and spend time with friends over food. I find VERY simple actions ,like separating herb leaves from stems, or making jewelry and greeting cards, a great way to relax. I like to read, and enjoy a good movie once in a while.

Música, películas y libros

Oh, the shame - I've become one of those people who love to read but haven't read a book (uni material doesn't count) for 6 months.
I do love reading though. I find myself feeling better in English, discussing complex ideas better in Hebrew, and thrilled whenever I read anything in Arabic, because I can (that childish feeling of pride to be able to do something you think is important).
At the end of the day, I always like a good story.
What I originally wrote about music is still more or less true:
As far as music goes... everything goes. Someone told me a while ago that she didn't like the term 'world music', but I think that would be a pretty good definition of my taste. I like music that comes from various corners of the world - both stuff I was exposed to growing up (large doses of light rock and israeli music, small doses of pop and r&b), and stuff that i'm only beginning to get to know now (algerian rai, west-african music, jazz, east-european music). that being said, usually i'm not the one choosing the music to be played when with people, so the chances of me having a well-informed music conversation are kind of slim.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I fell into a river and got out. Nothing life threatening, but all my travel documents, money and camera got wet... and then all the above dried off and were perfectly functional, so I didn't really lose anything, but gained a new sense of proportion.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I stumbled upon Devorah Liss's CS page (http://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=5M0C6P0), and found this amazing link:http://bit.ly/JlemMapI'm going to try and share this with future CS-ers coming my way...
