About Me

CURRENT MISSION

If I could, I would walk a mile in everyone's shoes.

ABOUT ME

I have traveled extensively in the continental US, and I am now setting my sights a little further. I love traveling off the path, and living as a local rather than a tourist.

PHILOSOPHY

My favorite place to be is on the way to somewhere I've never been before. I want to live my life in such a way that in the end I leave with no place unvisited and no experience unattempted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just joined, so I am still finding my way around the community. I'm hoping to meet some like-minded people, and cultivate some global friendships. Right now I don't have a great couch to offer, so I need to hold off on that until I am in a better location.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent two years couchsurfing around the US (before I discovered this website). It was actually part of my job! I miss the excitement of those solo traveling days, and I'm looking forward to hitting the road again.

Interests

I'm a musician by profession - I am principally a flute player, but I love any and all kinds of music; I usually put "travel" on lists like this, but that's probably a given here; I love new experiences - that's probably my #1 interest. I love learning a little bit about everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music performed by the song-writer/composer - there is a sincerity that you just can't find anywhere else. I like movies and books that can teach me something...but to be honest there's nothing quite like a rainy day Doctor Who marathon. I am also a Japanese pencil & paper puzzle fanatic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, getting to solo drive around the US for two years was probably one of the most influential experiences of my life. For many people that would become a one-time "wow that was fun" experience; for me it has been a tiny taste of how I want to live the rest of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a band director by trade, I have some passable music skills. I also have experience with volunteer organizations, and I like studying how these organizations and the people who participate in them interact. And I like telling and hearing stories.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Ghana, Haiti, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Liechtenstein, Mexico, North Korea, South Korea, Switzerland, Togo, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
