ABOUT ME
I am a part-time university lecturer and freelance writer working from home on responsible tourism.

PHILOSOPHY

Das Fernsehen hat mir vor 25 Jahren die drei Fragen "Wieso? Weshalb? Warum?" beigebracht. Das heutige TV-Programm hat sie mir abgewoehnt.

25 years ago the TV taught me the three questions: Why, what for, how come. Today`s TV-program broke me off.

Not personal but very important to us is what Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia once said:
"Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war and until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host and travel with CS. People come and stay, we spend time together and explore what we feel is worth seeing - be it at home or abroad. Please spent decent time in looking up the profile, before writing to a fellow CSer. From my experience, one personal message is more efficient than a dozen bulk mail. Think it from your hosts perspective: Why should I welcome you in my home? What's the value for me? What's so interesting about you? And what are the reasons why you want to visit me, and not another CS (there are really plenty of them, even in Saarland). If you come for less then 2 days it is hard for me to understand how to spent valuable time with you.
A good request will really make your life in CS richer and help you become a very valuable part of this global hospitality community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am now living alone, as my kids are grown up and go their own ways. But we, as a family, have made some nice experience with both hosting and surfing.

In May 2006, we went to Budapest and had a wonderfull time with Klara, her husband and their six children.

Since, we have hosted several people in India, in Austria and in Germany, and we have continued travelling with CS
...
CS made our winter tour through Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Turkey 2009/2010 a wow-experience with so many nice people we encountered and shared their home with us...

From 2010-2012 we hosted plenty of wonderful people in Vienna - coming from all over the world and all walks of life.

Couchsurfing 2.0: We re-visited CS-friends in Brussels in fall and were hosted in Netherlands, Spain, France in winter 2010/2011.

Now, in Saarland, we annually hardly receive the amount of CS-requests we had in Vienna during a single week. However, doors are open.

Though we appreciate the beautiful art of movies, we don't have a TV and dont miss it much. We entertain ourselves with internet, board games, books, music, talks...

Birth is a wonder, as is the speed in which children pick up new skills.
Or is this about the huge lionfish we saw while snorkeling in Honda Bay/Palawan/Philippines, the sunrise boat cruise with the fisherman to the Ghats of Malda/West-Bengal/India, the Barracuda that could as well have eaten us on Koh Phanghan/Thailand, the small lanes of Venice/Italy, the pace of Berlin/Germany, the Rhinos in Assam/India...

Do you enjoy board games? I do!

I am kind of a maniac with my profession: i am holding a master degree in Sustainable Tourism Management, have worked in India with Community-based Eco-Tourism and in Austria as a trainer on child-protection in tourism, and am now - in addition to running a communication consulting for responsible tourism - a lecturer for international tourism management at Saarland Business school....besides I am not a bad cook.
