We hope this group will provide support and a safe space for those "middle aged" and beyond, who have an abundance of experience to share on a world-wide scale .

We are happy when members open threads, so if you have a topic, start a thread about it. If you do not feel comfortable writing in English, write in a language of your choice.

Heard from an American at a pub in Ireland: "I'm looking for a lu-pree-shun"

(accent on second syllable)

In Oslo a woman heard tourist say "we're here to see the fudge-ords."

It's been ten years and I haven't said fjord the right way since!

I met a couple who say "tor-tuaze" for the same reason. Well...a tortoise kind of has a french ending...?

"Massive update" coming soon?

I recently submitted a few minor concerns to support, and they've been quite responsive, much faster than a few weeks ago, and obviously taking my requests into account.

My Strasbourg trip is OK now, although it could have been a temporary glitch that auto-solved itself.

Incidentally, in one of the replies, support informed me that they are working on a "massive update". Let's keep fingers crossed...

Stuff still annoying

Some bugs have been fixed, many not.

Searching for a host, there isn't a way to filter for "HOSTING", so I see a lot of profiles with "I'm traveling now, and can't host".

Every time I set filters, look at a profile, return to the list, I need to reset the filters I want.

No way to filter for number of guests.

Couch requests limit the number or characters.

After sending a request, I can't send any other message to the CS member, until they reply. So if I made a mistake with some detail, I can't change it. Also, after a negative reply, I can't add anything. I usually like sending a "thank you for the response", now I can't be polite.

By the way, I've started looking for hosts in Japan via other hosting sites, and there seems to be the same apathy. I had hoped that at least in Japan things will be different.

Bug on trips. Can you test?

I've been trying to create a trip to Strasbourg, France. After filling all fields and returning to the trips list, the trip doesn't appear. So I tried to edit a trip to another destination (it works) but as soon as I add Strasbourg as a destination, the trip disappears from the list.

It's an issue because no trip means no couch request for the destination. And I'm really going there soon.

Can you check is the problem happens to you? Is is it just my account or the destination that creates problems?

Clean up your CS Inbox

Thanks to the Product Support Team, archiving chat messages has returned. Just swipe left on any messages you want to Archive. On web just open the chat and click on the top right 3 dot menu. All of your Archived chats are in the top storage box.

Free CS Membership

After some time lying low - I was never and will not be a big poster here, I would still like to inform those that do not already know:

CS are offering free membership for 12 months for those who have not renewed their membership in the past.

Of course members that can read this thread have paid the membership fee, however maybe you know some/one who would like to take up the offer and would like to tell them about it.

What the reasons for this offer are, I decline to speculate ;)

To Colorado after Labor Day

Driving. I try to post a 'trip', hoping to get HH and driving assistance but it won't allow it. Some time ago- a few weeks- I posted a trip by accident and deleted.

So, it should be possible....but I can't.

El Nino may be a real thing after all?!

For months we have been hearing of a super, never before equaled El Nino. After many years hearing and not seeing any effect I was about to decide it was weathercaster hype- as so much turns out to be. But we have had much fairly abnormal rain in the past week or so. Not unpleasant; just a bit surprising after years of dry Augusts. And Septembers.

One county over to the east and south had 7+ inches (18 cm). That was not so pleasant, but was only local.

Have others found an El Nino yet?
